It was early in the morning, Jenny was in bed snuggled under the covers, Okari was snuggled under the covers with his face right against hers, the morning light shown through the curtains even with them closed. He had gotten into bed with her late in the night and snuggled up next to her. Obviously. He'd been in John's bed snuggled up next to him before that. He liked hopping from bed to bed. Jenny yawned as she awoke, stretching her arms over her head, Okari's eyes fluttered open as she awoke. He looked at her and licked her cheek, she giggled and kissed his forehead, making his tail wag beneath the sheets. She hugged him tight and he nuzzled her cheek as she began to stroke his head. A satisfied smile creeped onto his face.

"Do you want to go outside Okari?" His head went up and his ears perked as he stared at her, tail wagging under the sheets. She got up out of bed and got dressed and then left her room, Okari followed her out to the back door, she opened it and he ran outside. She followed him and she got the ball and they played catch for s bit.

John yawned as he got up, the sound of laughing and Okari running around outside awoke him from his slumber. He rubbed his face and got out of bed, he showered then went to the kitchen to make coffee. He poured Okari some food and got a pan and began cooking breakfast. He hummed a tune as he cooked the eggs. He finished his and made his daughters. Then started on the hashbrowns. He set the table and opened the window. "Hun, breakfast is ready, come and eat!"

"Okay daddy!" Jenny called and ran inside, Okari on her heels she got into the chair and began eating, scarfing her food down he sat down as well and began eating too. Okari ate his food then went to Jenny and began laying on the charm as he began begging with the cutest face he could muster. Jenny of course fell like a rock for it, pandering to the children was always the easiest route for some food.

"Okari, that's enough", John said and pointed to the living room.

"Daddy, he'll get lonely!"

"No he won't, Okari go." He walked into the living room and sat down and eventually laid down. The two of them finished their food and Jenny went into the living room and turned on cartoons. John got up, cleaned the dishes and sat down in the living room with her.

"They were watching pokemon."

"Daddy when I start my journey can I take Okari with me?"

"Honey, you'll be getting your own pokemon for your journey." He said nonchalantly. This got him thinking though, what would he do when she left.

"But I want Okari with me!" Shexsaid hugging him tight around the neck.

"Uh-huh and what will I do when you're gone if you take him with you? I'll be all alone."

"Oh, I didn't think of that", she said sadly.

"Besides you're only eight. You've got some time before you even start prepping for it. Okari will be old and useless for a trainer by then." Okari looked at him and growled. Not liking him talking about him that way. "Oh stop it you!" John said. He trotted over and hopped onto the couch and chewed on his arm. Flopping himself onto John's leg. He pushed his head away and smacked him around playfully a bit, Okari growled playfully. Tail wagging as he wrestled with John, John soon pulled him onto his lap. He wagged his tail and chewed on him some more. Jenny got up and ran over and began to pet his side.

"Daddy, can I go to the park?"

"Yeah I guess. Take Okari with you though."

"I will. Come on Okari!" He hopped off the couch and they ran outside and she jumped onto his back and he raced off towards the park. They got there fast and she hopped off and ran to the stairs. The park was big. It had two swing sets on either end of the playground.

The actual play set was thirty feet high and the stairs led up to fifteen. It was meant for older kids but it was also the only playground around their small town. She ran up to the top. Okari behind her and let Okari get in her lap and they went down together. She laughed all the way down and they went up again, Okari's tail wagging happily.

Jenny took out a ball and tossed a ball to him and he took it back to her and they played fetch. Suddenly some other kids came out of the woods from the north of the playground, older kids.

Jenny smiled and waved to them, they were her friends. "Hi Rendal!"

Rendel was twelve, he'd gone on his journey and failed, hard. His pokemon, a Bulbasaur, walked up beside him. "Hey Jen, hey Okari!" He said getting on a knee as Okari ran over to him tail wagging, he tackled him to the ground, Rendal grunted with a loud oof, as he was slammed down.

Okari wasted no time frenching him, making him sputter and laughed and push him off, with some effort. "Ugh not the mouth man!" Jenny smiled, she had a big crush on Rendel, he was so cool.

He took on a gym leader, it didn't matter that he lost, he still took on the challenge and made it that far. He got outside their small town, saw a bit of the world, trained his bulbasaur to become stronger. She hoped she could be half as cool as him some day.

A younger kid, a girl the same age as Jenny, came running passed him to Okari and pulled him into a hug, which he happily accepted, he licked her cheek, and leaned his body into hers, tail wagging blissfully.

"Susan!" Jenny called out excitedly.

"Hey Jenny!"

Rendel finally pushed him off laughing. And then rubbed his head and scratched his ear. Okari wagged, licking his lips turned his green eyed gaze to Jenny. "Mind if I play with you guys?"

"Sure!" She said happily, excited to spend time with him, they took a ball and tossed it to Okari. He caught it with ease. Suddenly Bulbasaur grabbed it from the air with his vine. Okari growled and started barking angrily.

"Brobasaur, toss him the ball", Rendel commanded Brobasaur threw the ball to him. Three feet over his head. Okari leaped up and caught it with ease, he did a spin, and landed on his feet with feline grace.

Everyone clapped. Okari gave brobasaur a smug look which made him return the gaze with a pair of stinky eyes.

Okari brought the ball back to Jenny who pat him on the head.

"Good boy", Jenny said to him, he beamed at this.

Brobasaur suddenly took a vine and smacked that growlithe booty. This got a rise out of him as Okari snarled and tackled him, biting him on the cheek, because hechad no neck. Brobasaur wrapped its vines around Okari's neck and lifted him up, choking him.

"Brobasaur no!" Rendel shouted.

"Okari!" Jenny screamed in fear.

Okari used his claws to scratch against the vine, brobasaur let him go. Okari snarled and flames licked his maw as he got ready to let loose some flames. Jenny jumped in the middle of it though. "Okari no!"

The flames went away immediately at this and he whined.

"Rendel make Brobasaur apologize!"

"Brobasaur you better apologize."

He looked at him annoyed.

"Brobasaur…" he said annoyed.

Brobasaur shook his head and scraped the dirt aggressively.

"Hm." Rendel hummed thoughtfully.

"Why would he do all this Rendel?" Jenny asked, confused and worried.

"He wants to fight Okari."

Jenny looked at Okari, "Okari could hurt Brobasaur though, he's a fire type. That's a bad idea."

"I know but he's not going to stop until Okari fights him, he's the most stubborn pokemon I've ever met. What do you say Jenny, want to do a quick battle to get all the aggression out of his system?"

Jenny looked at Okari with uncertainty, "I don't know, I've never battled pokemon before. I don't think Okari's fought before either, I don't want him to get hurt."

"Okari's definitely fought before, he saved you from a Hypno before."

"He did?"

"Yeah three years ago, it was the talk of the town for months."

"I…don't remember much from that…."

"It was a while ago and you were young. And hypnotized. Now I may not be a very good trainer, but I do know that Hypno are strong pokemon, not just any pokemon can fight them on their own and live. Okari is strong, and special. Especially for a Growlithe. So come on, let's see what you and Okari have got." He said with a cocky smile.

She blushed at his smile, he was cute. She turned to Okari, "What do you think, Okari?"

He barked, wagging his tail confidently, she smiled, "Okay, let's do it." She said, meeting Rendels gaze.

"Great, you ready Brobasaur?"

He sounded off a sound of affirmation and stared at Okari in the eyes, ready for a challenge. Okari met it with a feirceness, not bloodlust but excitement, an excitement to battle again. Contrary to popular belief he enjoyed fighting, it was invigorating and exciting.

"Are you ready Jenny?"

"I think so", she looked at Okari who was stiff and uptight but tail wagging, he was looking towards Brobasaur. "Yes, i am!"

"Then you go first."

"Okay, Go Okari, use tackle", she knew it wasn't a good move rushing into battle, but she didn't want to get Brobasaur hurt either. Okari did as he was told though, rushing towards Brobasaur.

"Brobasaur use razor leaf!" Brobasaur lurched back and threw himself forwards. Two giant leaves flew from the bulb on his back and glew towards Okari, he tanked the attack cringing as he was given paper cuts from the leaves, Brobasaur's eyes widened, Okari smiled cruelly ready for vengeance and to put this pleb in its place.

Okari slammed into Brobasaur full speed with everything he had slamming him into the ground hard. Brobasaur cried in pain as he jad the air knocked out of him, he then fainted likecs bitch.

"Brobasaur!" Rendel cried out in horror and ran over, Okari got off him wagging his tail and howling in victory while staring down at Bulbasaur. Rendel picked him up into his arms.

"Rendel is he okay?" Jenny asked as shexraced over.

"Yeah he's breathing still, good job Jenny."

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to-"

"No. No really, good job, that was good Jenny."

"Wait I-Iwon my first pokemon battle."

"Heheh, I guess you did", he said sheepishly, running a tanned hand through his brown hair.

She blushed at his compliment and then froze, she won her first pokemon battle. "I won my first pokemon battle." A big excited grin came to her face. "I WON MY FIRST POKEMON BATTLE!"

"Yeah, great job, and thanks for going easy on Brobasaur, I don't think he'd survive a fire attack from Okari."

"Good job Jenny, that was so cool!" Susan cried out jumping up and down, she raced over to Okari and pulled his head into a tight hug, he panted happily, tongue hanging from his mouth as his tail wagged.

"I've got to get him to the pokemon center. I'm all out of burn potions."

"I Okari didn't burn him though."

"Oh yes he did, just not in the way you think."

"What?"

"Would you come with me in case any wild pokemon try to attack?" Rendel said.

"Sure", Jenny said.

Rendel picked up Brobasaur in his arms and carried him, apparently he didn't bring his pokeball.

"Come on Okari!" Jenny said, hopping on his back, Okari had his head high proudly ready to go.

"I wanna ride him too!" Susan said, climbing up. Okari whined at this. He wasn't used to carrying two kids.

"Can I ride?" Rendel asked hopefully.

"Okari growled at him."

"I guess not."

"Come on, let's go!" Okari started off and Rendel followed. The pokemon center was five miles away. Okari was dragging himself against the ground by the time he got to the pokemon center, he was gasping for breath.

"Hurry up Okari!" Susan said, annoyed.

"Susan, get off, you're too fat!" Jenny said.

"I'm not fat!" She said angrily.

"You kinda are", Rendel said.

Susan started crying and ran off. "You guys are mean!"

Jenny got off Okari and he sighed in releif as he laid down in the middle of the road.

"Thanks Jenny, see you later."

"Okay bye!"

They went home after that.

The door opened and John smiled without looking up, "hey Jenny-bear, how was the park?"

"Great, Okari and I had our first pokemon battle."

"Wait, what?" He asked setting the paper down on his leg to look at her now. She stopped and went quiet for a moment, knowing something was wrong.

"Um, yeah, Rendel wanted to battle so we battled, and we won!"

"Is Rendels pokemon okay?" He asked cautiously.

"Yeah he's beat up but he's alive."

"Why?" John asked, annoyed.

"Because Rendel wanted to, and Brobasaur was-"

"It's bulbasaur, sweetie."

"I know but he named it Brobasaur."

He stared blankly at her. "No wonder he failed so badly as a trainer,'' he said , bringing the paper back to his face.
