The Legacy

Chapter 2

"If it wasn't for you

I'd always be in and out of love

Lying in the wrong rooms

Knowing it wasn't quite enough"

"It's hard to picture and imagine right.?"

"Me married. A wife. Settled down in some routine."

"Locked down with rules and expectations." Serena questioned.

Looking to Nate. In front of them was the endless skyline of the city.

Nate looked back at her. "You being happy fufilled."

"Living the life you want. Is all i care about." Nate replied.

"I admitted years ago. That even if i ended up with Dan."

"A part of me would still be in love with you."

"If i'm guilty of anything. It's taking you for granted." Serena confessed.

"Our timing was never right. It happens. There is no reason to dwell on it." Nate stated matter of fact.

Serena leaned over kissing him gently.

Nate kissed her back. Cupping her face with his hands.

Serena got out of her flashback/daydream.

Realizing and remembering. She had called Nate and invited him over.

Dan had got to work and would't be home for hours.

"I think we should forget that kiss ever happened." Nate announced.

"I know we should. I especially do. Need to erase it."

"But for the first time in years. I felt alive. Seen. "

"I can't just walk away from that. You." Serena replied.

Leaning forward. Cupping his face as she kissed him hard.

Nate kissed her back.

Wanting to deny himself the light air and freedom she set off in him.

But he found himself unable too.

At some point he broke the kiss.

"I have to have all of you. Or i need to walk away."

"The idea of sharing you. Watching that wedding."

"Its too much Serena." Nate stated matter of fact.

A pained expression soon came across Nate's face.

"Nate what do you want from me! I promised my heart and life to Dan."

"Backing out of that now. Would be impossible." Serena explained.

Nate sighed deeply. "Then i have to get out of you're life. I can't be anything to you."

"I'm in love with you. I have never not been."

"We complete each other. You're my other half." Nate proclaimed before leaving the home.
