Pairing: Ash x Goh.
Summary:
Leon's words strike a chord in Ash.
Cinderace, and then Inteleon. It really was like he was battling Goh's Pokémon.
Even when Goh wasn't behind him, cheering as he'd done every step of the way, Goh's contribution had been ingrained into Ash's being. It was echoing inside him – a continuous shout – shaking his Mega Stone, Z-Ring, and Dynamax Band.
"I dedicate this victory to Inteleon. His hard work is what enabled it," Leon says a few words after Gengar goes down.
Leon owed it to his team of Pokémon, just as Ash owed his Pokémon, for making it this far.
But this was the tipping point. The true test of Ash's dream.
To be the very best.
To be a Pokémon Master.
His cause.
Journeying with all the friends and Pokémon he'd journeyed with. Training hard and learning about this wide, wide world humans and Pokémon lived together in.
Ash owed who he was to everybody. The man he'd become, growing with his friends and Pokémon on the road to the crown.
Though their dreams may take them down different paths. Though their dreams may be as different as red and blue, gold and silver, ruby and sapphire, diamond and pearl, black and white, X and Y, sun and moon, or sword and shield.
Their dreams were matched.
The boy from Pallet Town. Alola's first Champion.
He owed everybody, and yet, standing here across from his toughest opponent, there was someone he wanted to thank in particular. Though their paths had only crossed recently, he wanted to dedicate himself and this battle to that someone, with everything he had!
We promised the next time we meet, we'd meet each other with a smile! I promise if I beat Leon…if I become Monarch…that'll be when I tell Goh how I feel about him! So…
"Pikachu! Everyone!"
"Pika!"
"We must win!"
