"Oh, hold still little one!" The auburn haired male complained as the child he was speaking too seemed much too excited for her own good.
"But daddy! We're going somewhere neat today! I don't wanna be late!" She exclaimed waving her little arms as he tried to zip her jacket but she was just too focused on getting out the door. Obi-Wan gave a soft chuckle watching her, sometimes she could be so stubborn, and he'd love to put all the blame on her late mother but in truth...she got it from both of them.
"Oh, you can be in such a rush sometimes." He muttered to her, as he checked over her clothing ensuring nothing was messed up, or uneven before standing and nodding. "Plus, its open until nighttime, you'll get to have fun no matter what time we get there." He rolled his baby blue eyes playfully at her. Grabbing his keys, head made his way to the door, hearing the impatient steps of his child behind him as she followed but then ran out in front when the door opened and was now looking at him from the car door. "All for a pumpkin patch." He breathed out softly.

Laine kicked her legs softly in her carseat as they drove, watching as the city slowly, shifted into the country side. The leaves on the trees had shed their green and were now reds, oranges, and yellows, and whats more, crunchy brown meaning she had more targets then she thought. The sun was out but it was still slightly chilly, so maybe she could even sneak in a hot chocolate or two a small smirk came to her features at that thought. Yes, it would be a good day for her and her father, she'd make sure of it. Granted Laine was only five so there was nothing much she could really do, but she'd try. As she felt the car suddenly slow down and turn, she knew they had finally arrived and she felt that surge of energy again.
Obi-Wan got out and walked over, opening Laine's door and helping her out of the carseat, placing her on the ground and made sure to keep his eyes on her. He knew she was fast, and in place she liked, he also knew she'd bolt. He outreached his hand and closed it as soon as he felt the warmth of the smaller Kenobi's hand, looking up they walked on.

"Now, Little One please be on your best today, okay?" He cocked his brow to her, smiling when he saw her expression of excitment and youthful bliss. "As you know this place is pretty big, and you can easily get yourself lost. I just want you to be aware." He watched as she gave this some thought. She always did, and he found it adorable the little wrinkle to her nose, how her eyes looked past him instead of right at him, her mouth slightly off center. It was just something small he'd noticed and loved. Granted he loved her, all of her.
"Okay Daddy, I'll be good. I don't wanna get lost here." She knew that if she did, or even disobeyed him there was no chance of a pumpkin let alone hot chocolate. She didn't want to risk that chance, no, not today. She skipped along next to him happily as she watched him pay the fee to get in. And she walked into the patch, looking around, she felt the energy burn in her wanting to run and play like all the children she saw, wild, free, and causing headache's for their parents and she realized she couldn't be like them, no, she had her objectives.

"So, Lainey where do you want to start? Picking your pumpkin out or the hayride? Or you could do the maze, or the play set in the barn." He offered, and watched her make her thinking face again, unable to help the soft chuckle and shake of his head. Before she broke back to him and they looked at each other before she smiled happily.
"Hayride! Can see whole patch that way." She settled, and pointed out to him, and so they both made their way over to the horse drawn carrige and climbed up, she noticed her father was uncomfortable on the stacks of hay set up to sit on, it made her giggle as she plopped right next to him and grinned. "I can't wait daddy!" She squeaked at him, grinning.
"That's great Lainey, I'm glad you're so happy." He smiled softly, it had been so long since she'd been truly, fully happy. After her mothers passing, Obi-Wan wasn't sure just how far she'd recover, Satine had been such an influence in the child's life, he was glad she was happy again, maybe he could take a page from his daughters book.

The hayride took them, as Laine had expected, around the whole patch. Large orange pumpkins mixed in with a bunch of smaller ones and even smaller if you looked close enough. The air smelled of crisp chills, leaves being absorbed into the soils, and of course the pies and treats being made at the main building. Laine had become hyper and hungery after having the time of her life in the maze. Now was time to search the dirt patch for her pumpkin and he figured it was best to allow her to pick, knowing she was going to try for the largest the place had around. He'd need to put a hold on that right now as they walked along. "Remember Little One, only get one I can fit in the car." He chuckled at her sudden reaction of wrinkled nose and slight annoyed gaze but she gave in and stopped heading toward the big one she wanted. He watched curiously as she bent down and tapped on pumpkins, as if she knew what she was checking for, chuckling at her process.
"Got one Daddy!" She called happily picking it up and carrying it over to him, thankfully the thing wasn't too big and she seemed to be able to handle it herself.

Laine sat happily drinking her hot chocolate now, all cuddled next to Obi-Wan huffing gently, which he knew meant she wasn't comfortable, she never had been when it came to cold and winter time. Perhaps because it brought back sad, hard, memories for the child, ones she never told him. He wrapped his arm around her and kept her close as she started to look more content that way. "Did you have a good day?" He cocked his brow.
"Yes! Lots of fun and gotta good pumpkin!" She grinned up at him, as she finished her drink and he stood, they headed back to the car, Laine skipping happily next to him. He helped her into the carseat and strapped her in, handing her the pumpkin so she could hold onto it on their drive home. He then set himself up in the drivers seat and began to drive off. Smiling as Laine looked out the window "Bye, bye Pumpkins!" She waved and then settled in her seat, next time they'd be here was to bring home a tree.

He smiled tenderly at the child passed out, it was a big day for her and she seemed to of had fun. "Alright Little One, let's get you inside." He murmured softly as he picked her up and closed the door. Entering the home and walking up the stairs, he woke her enough so she could change and then tucked her in. Laying with her until she was in a deep sleep once more.
