Chapter 2 - Por Jud is Ded
Scene: Later that evening. Judd is resting at the in the hired hand shack. He has his own room, no roommates. Curly knocks on the door.
Judd: Come in.
Curly: Howdy.
Judd: What do you want?
Curly: I decided to pay a courtesy call to you. I am just being a nice guy.
Judd: I doubt it.
Curly: I see you have some interesting pictures of women on the wall.
Judd: What of it?
Curly: I also see you have a nice rope.
Judd: I am a farm hand. I need it.
Curly: Have you ever thought of hanging yourself?
Judd: What?
Curly: You need to hang yourself. It will make the world a better place. Look at the pictures on the wall. You can't get the real thing. Everybody, except for you, has the real thing. You have and will only ever have fantasies.
Judd: I have Laurie and am dating her.
Curly: She will stand you up in a moment's notice. Nobody likes you.
Judd: We'll see.
Curly: We'll see all right. Rumors are you killed the Bartlett family.
Judd: I never killed anybody.
Curly: I don't believe you and neither would anybody else. You act like a nut job. I can tell. Just kill yourself. That is the only way people will like you.
Judd: You're the crazy one.
Curly: Judd, there is one rule of thumb. People who get picked on should never be trusted for anything responsible. Getting wedgies all the time should weed you out of any responsible job. Bullies are another story. They should not be judged by earlier actions. You really need to kill yourself. This was true back during the time Oklahoma became a state, it was true around World War II and shortly afterward and it is true today in the age of social media. It will always be true. It is just wholesome Americana and probably true worldwide. There is no place on this world for you. You are worse than the measles.
Judd takes a heavy object and throws it at Curly. It misses and hits a window making a loud noise.
Curly: In addition to hitting like a girl, you throw like a girl.
Curly leaves and Judd is now alone.
Authors note: The suicide request was part of the original play and was an important part from Judd's point of view. It had to be included. If you are thinking of suicide, please contact the suicide hotline for help.
