Chapter 3 - Lonely Room/It's a Scandal and an Outrage

Scene: Judd's room. Ten minutes after Curly. Judd is alone. There is a knock on the door.

Judd: Come in.

Ali Akim: I heard some noise at your shack. I thought I would see what was going on.

Judd: Nothing was going on. I was having a discussion with Curly.

Ali Akim: Ok. I am glad to hear everything is all right. By the way, I notice you have some interesting pictures on you wall.

Judd: Yes, what of it.

Ali Akim: I am a salesman. I would like to sell you some more pictures. I also sell DVDs and internet software, if you are interested.

Judd: I am actually more interested in the real thing.

Ali Akim: Why are you interested in the real thing. I have two girls chasing me, Gertie and Anne. They are a pain in the neck.

Judd: I just want one, preferably Laurie.

Ali: From what I have heard about you, you should not have any.

Judd: Why not?

Ali: Nobody likes you here. You have no common sense. Even if somebody did teach you common sense, it would do no good. You have no talent. You would do it wrong the first time. You need too much practice. By the time you figure out how to do things right, you will have the same reputation you had beforehand. I am offering you a solution.

Judd: What?

Ali: Buy my products. You have money.

Judd: I make very little as a farm hand.

Ali: Then buy my time shares. You can make a lot of money that way. If you have money to give to other people, that will make them be more polite to you.

Judd: OK. I will think about it.

Ali: In the meantime, would you like to buy a kaleidoscope. It has some very interesting pictures.

Judd: Does it have a knife coming out of it?

Ali: No! I don't sell tools of violence. Are you mentally ill? Should we lock you up or dope you up?

Judd: No, I am not. Also, I don't want to get locked up or doped up. I just had a thought in my head of getting revenge on Curly. He came over and asked me to kill myself calling it wholesome Americana. I think he wants me dead.

Ali: Forget about it and just think happy thoughts.

Ali Akim leaves the shack without making a sale.
