Author's Note: Hello, Lovies! It's nice to take a break from my current fanfiction every now and then to write a simple one-shot. This fandom is new territory, but I loved the game too much to not write a one-shot for our main protagonists. Anyway, I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I loved writing. Don't forget to like, gives, kudos, subscribe, or whatever you do depending on which site you find this fanfiction on.

Normal P.O.V.
The sky was lit up by the bright sun as a silver-haired man cracked his eyes open. Luscious and expensive drapes, furniture, and artifacts were displayed throughout the room he occupied with his partner. Alphen sat up, yawned, and cracked his bones into place as he forced himself awake. Once he was finished, a smile graced his lips at the beautiful woman with long pink locks lying next to him.
After their recent victory against Vholran, and after they saved both Dahnan and Renan, the group returned to Dohalim's castle in Viscount and decided to stay there until they were ready to move on. About two weeks passed before they decided last night that it was time for them to go their separate ways. Each group member had their own idea of how they wanted to spend the rest of their life, they just had to figure out where to begin. Luckily for Alphen, his beginning was with the feisty woman he currently shared his bed with.
Yes, with their victory came the release of Shionne's curse. She was free of her thorns and free to hug and love Alphen as much as they both wanted. Nothing of a sexual nature happen just yet, but there were plenty of times when the couple came close. Now, with their newfound discoveries of one another, it is only a matter of time before they take that next step in their relationship.
"You're up already? That's almost a first," a gentle voice called.
Alphen looked down at a half-awake Shionne and smiled. Before she could say anything else, he swooped down and kissed her, causing her to blush and bury her head into the pillows.
"I couldn't help myself," he chuckled, even when he received a punch to his thigh. "I'm sorry, but you look so cute when you blush,"
"Stop being so embarrassing," she groaned before getting up and stretching. "So, today's the big day, huh?"
"Only if you want it to be. I don't mind staying as long as I'm with you, Shionne,"
"There you go again," she said with a cheeky smile and her red-dusted cheeks. "But I think it's time to move on. As much as I appreciate Do's hospitality, I'm ready to begin our own lives in our own space. Don't you agree, Alphen?"
"Yeah, I guess you're right. I'm just worried about how well Dohalim is going to take it? You know he's been so excited to have us here these past few weeks,"
"I know. I'm worried about him too, but Kisara promised Rinwell, and me last night that she'll be here to watch over him. I mean, I hate to say it, but he's lost without her,"
"Can't say I disagree with you there. But, at least we told him with enough time for him to get over it. Hopefully, he'll let us go peacefully. I don't think we should keep putting our departure off for much longer,"
"We'll just make sure to say a heartfelt goodbye, and promise to visit him every now and then,"
"You're right. Now, should we get up? Breakfast will be ready soon enough, and the guards will be banging on our door any minute now,"
Shionne placed her fingertip against her chin playfully, "We should, but I think I have something else in mind before we do,"
She suddenly placed her hands on top of his shoulders and brought her face towards Alphen. The kiss was similar to their earlier ones, but it was still special to both of them. The level of intimacy that was kept from them during their adventure was finally at their fingertips. They could love and hold each other without fear of Shionne's thorns or his lack of feeling. No, they could touch and feel each other until they were exhausted. That was before they heard a knock at the door.
"Sir Alphen and Lady Shionne. Your presence is requested in the dining hall for breakfast per Lord Dohalim's orders," The guard announced.
"Thank you! Please tell Do that we'll be down there as soon as we are dressed," shouted Alphen.
The couple waited for the guard to leave before they released defeated sighs.
"They're so annoying," grumbled Shionne.
"I know, but we knew this would happen," he chuckled before kissing her lips and rolling out of bed. "Now come on before they come back a second time.
Shionne's cheeks matched her hair as she sat on the bed awestruck before she eventually joined him.
"Ah, how wonderful of you two to join us," smiled Dohalim.
"Yeah, sorry about that. But breakfast looks good," laughed Alphen as they sit down.
"It's not a problem. I can see that both of you wanted to sleep in a little longer. You could have sent a message with the guard,"
The rest of the group laughed at the unintentional joke while Shionne and Alphen blushed profusely. "It's alright, Do. I think we're... well rested enough,"
"So, what is everyone doing today?" asked Kisara.
"I still have some studying to do in the library," Rinwell said.
"A couple of villagers needed my help with a few chores around the city," Law added as he chewed on his steak.
"I have some political tasks that I need to complete before I do anything else. Being a Lord can be tiring somedays," sighed Dohalim.
"And I will be overseeing the pond Dohalim is building for me. I'm so excited! Now I'll have a place to fish in peace!" she cheered.
"Kisara, I do wish that you would have let me surprise you with it instead of overseeing it,"
"Dohalim, I appreciate the thought, but this is my project baby and I want to make sure that it's done correctly,"
"Whatever you desire, Kisara,"
"What about you, Shionne? What do you and Alphen have planned?" Rinwell asked.
"Well, we planned to leave today, as we've mentioned before. However, we also wanted to look around until we find a place to stay. While we were out walking recently, we found a few places that seemed nice,"
"That's funny because I was thinking that same thing. In fact, Hootle and I wanted to look at some places within the city. We don't want to be too far from the library after all,"
"Yeah! That nice old man said he might want me to stay with him and help with his animals!" cheered Law.
"Old man?" questioned Shionne.
"You guys remember that nice old man who Alphen and I helped a while back? He owns the farm nearby,"
"Ohhhhh. Now I remember. How is he doing? Well, I'm assuming,"
"He's doing fine. He even asked about you, Alphen. While I was out doing a favor for some of the towns folk, I found him walking around. He asked me to back and help with his farm and animals. So, I did. Afterward, he asked about me working for him full-time. He said it doesn't come with pay, but I can eat and live there for free as long as I agree to help out. And, if I wanted some extra cash, I could complete a few tasks around the nearby villages. There's plenty of people who will pay for additional help,"
"That's great, Law," smiled Kisara.
"Yeah, it's great to see you use your brute strength for more than just fighting Zeugles all the time," giggled Rinwell.
"Right. Hey wait a minute, what's that supposed to mean?!"
Everyone laughed at the antics of the couple. Everyone except the red-haired lord.
"Hn,"
"What's wrong, Do?" asked Alphen.
"Are things not to your liking? I thought I made it perfectly clear that you all are welcome to stay here,"
"Oh no, Dohalim! Everything was fine. In fact, we loved it here and am sad to leave," said Shionne as she waved her hands.
"Then why are you all so eager to leave?" asked Do again.
The air in the room became awkward as everyone tried to think of a way to answer his question. Thankfully, Kisara took the hint and spoke up, "Dohalim, I think what everyone is trying to say is that they appreciate everything that you've done for them over the past few weeks. However, it's time we all went out separate ways and begin our own lives. You can't expect them to stay here with you forever, can you?"
"No, I supposed not," he sighed as he rested his head on his fist.
Sensing his sadness, Kisara placed a comforting hand on his right shoulder and squeezed it, "Don't be sad. They may not be here every day, but we'll always be together,"
"Yeah, it's not like we're going that far away. We're still staying within Menancia. We're either going to be outside the gates, or inside the city," added Rinwell.
"And you'll have me by your side. I have no plans on leaving you alone. You can still barely put on your own clothing, or do the most basic tasks, without my help. And, if you have time, we can always go visit them, or they'll come to see us," smiled Kisara.
"Besides, you'll be too busy being a Lord and the Liaison between Dahnan and Renan to miss us," said Law.
"Nonsense! I'll never not have enough time for you guys. This I swear. But I understand where Kisara, and the rest of you, are coming from. Therefore, I respect your decisions. Please, let me know if there is anything I can do to make your transitions easier,"
Everyone nodded before they started a new conversation. Once breakfast was finished, everyone went to their separate rooms to get dressed for the day.
Shionne wore her original white sundress, from the first day she met Alphen, white heels, and a matching sun hat. She also wore her long pink hair free and down her back. Alpen wore a casual blue collared shirt with faint white stripes, dark pants, and dark brown boots. Even though the main war was over, there were still Zeugles out and about. So, for safety measures, he brought the Blazing Sword and another sword just in case. Thinking the same idea, Shionne made sure her guns were at the ready whenever she summoned them.
"Ready to go?" he asked.
"Yeah. I'm looking forward to our adventures today. I heard it was going to be nice," she smiled.
Alphen returned the smile as he walked closer to Shionne and reached for some of her silky hair. He watched in amazement as he threaded his fingers through her light, soft locks.
"You look beautiful," he whispered.
A blush dusted her cheeks before she turned around and folded her arms, "Why are you always so mushy and embarrassing?"
He chuckled because he knew there was no malice behind her voice. However, he decided to push his luck as he came up behind her and wrapped his arms around her waist.
"Wait- wait are you doing, Alphen?" she asked in a panicked voice.
"I just… wanted to hold on to you. I know it's been a few weeks, but I've imagined holding you like this for most of our adventures. Sorry if I'm being selfish, but I just wanted to hold on to you… just a little longer,"
The blush turned her cheeks completely red as she sighed and leaned back into his chest. It wasn't like she didn't feel the same way. In fact, if anything, she felt it more than he did. All her life, she had to go without being touched and looked at like a freak. She never had anyone she could rely on, or hold onto without either scaring them away or hurting them. She often wondered if Alphen felt the same when he couldn't feel things. She also wondered which was the worse of the two curses. Luckily, now it doesn't matter. Now they can safely hold onto the other without fear. And maybe, Alphen wasn't the only one being selfish.
After a while of holding each other, both reluctantly let the other go and walked hand-in-hand down the stairs. However, they stopped when they came across Dohalim and Kisara peaking around the corner of a pillar.
"What are you both doing?" asked Shionne.
"Shhhhh!" Both Dohalim and Kisara hushed with their fingers to their lips before they waved the couple over.
"Look down there and listen," whispered Kisara.
Shionne and Alphen did as they were told and were shocked to see an awkward Law trying to talk to a confused Rinwell.
"Is everything ok, Law? You look a little flush," she said as she reached up to touch his forehead.
Suddenly, Law jumped backward with red cheeks. The action caused Rinwell and Hootle to look at him in confusion and worry. Seeing this, Law nervously laughed as he scratched the back of his head.
"Yeah. Everything is fine,"
"Oh, ok then… Well, if you say so, then I'm going to head to the library now,"
Everyone facepalmed their foreheads as they watched her walk past him.
"He should stop her," said Kisara.
"Should I cause a diversion?" asked Dohalim.
"No. He has to do this on his own,"
"He's gonna blow it," said Shionne.
"Come on, Law. You can do it," whispered Alphen.
"Rinwell, wait!" called Law. When the blue-haired mage turned around, the purple-haired warrior straightened himself and coughed into his hand. "I, um, well you see, um. Damnit!" he yelled.
"Law, what is going on with~"
"Will you go out with me?!" he blurted out, shocking everyone in the room.
"What?" she asked after getting over her initial shock.
"Will you go out with me? Look, I know that we don't always get along, and we constantly fight. But I appreciate and admire your strength and other things about you. And the truth is… well… I… like you, Rinwell. And I want to get to know you better… maybe as more than friends… so… please accept my feelings!" he bowed.
Everyone, especially Rinwell, was shocked to hear Law admit his feelings for the mage. Everyone knew they were there, but neither knew when he would finally confess them. Some of them, after getting over their shock, were proud of his declaration. Now all they had to do was wait for the girl's reaction.
With bated breath, their friends watched as the mage walked towards the still-bowed warrior and bonked him on the head. The peanut gallery winched at her reaction while Law let out a painful yelp.
"Hey! What was that for?" he grumbled as he messaged his sore spot.
However, it was his turn to be shocked when he saw her standing there with a smile and her hands on her hips.
"Took you long enough. I knew you'd get there eventually. I just thought we'd be old and gray before then though," she giggled.
"Dinner, tomorrow night, at eighteen o'clock sharp. Meet me by the front of the palace, and don't make me late, or I'll strike you will lightning," she commanded.
A wide smile spread across his face as he saluted her, "Yes ma'am!"
She rolled her eyes as she turned to walk away with a shy smile and pink-dusted cheeks.
Law continued to stand there for a moment before he practically ran out of the palace, jumping and cheering along the way.
"Well, that was…"
"Normal for them," laughed Kisara as she finished Alphen's sentence.
"I thought it was sweet. In their own way that is," chuckled Shionne.
"Ah, young love. There's nothing like it. It's so inspiring! I must write about this! I'll be in my office chambers! Kisara, make sure no one disturbs me!" yelled Dohalim as he sped and walked down the hall.
The blond-haired woman smiled and sighed as they watched him go.
"So, do you think you'll be old and gray before he asks you?" nudged Shionne with a devilish smile.
"Probably. But, if this life has taught me anything, some things are worth the wait," she shrugged.
"Wait, what are you two talking about?" asked Alphen.
Both girls giggled before Shionne grabbed his hand and pulled him away, "Don't worry about it. C'mon. Let's go already. We're losing daylight!"
"Have fun and be safe!" called Kisara as she watched them exit the palace. With everyone gone away, it was time for Kisara to take her leave too. With a hopeful smile, she bent down and grabbed her fishing supplies. "Now, time to check on my pond,"
The couple walked around and enjoyed themselves for hours. They took their time and explored more of the city and eat lunch before finally exiting through Viscount's gates. Once on the other side, they fought a few minor Zeugles and strolled through a few villages to look at their chosen houses. However, none of them felt right. Things were not looking good for the moment.
"Well, that's the last house we picked,"
"I can't believe we didn't like any of them," sighed Shionne as she sat on top of a hill.
"I know. I thought we would at least find a house or two, but I agree that none of them felt right,"
"Oh well, it's getting late," she said as she stood up and offered him a hand. "Ready to go?"
"Yeah?"
He took her hand and allowed her to pull him up. Just as they were about to leave, they noticed the old farmer Law talked about earlier.
"Hey! Mister Farmer!" Alphen waved.
The old man looked around in confusion before he saw the couple and happily waved back.
"Why hello there! What brings y'all two all the way outchere?" he asked.
"We were house hunting actually, but none of them seemed to be what we were looking for," sighed Alphen.
"House huntin', eh? Well, if y'all is interested, I might have something for ya. Do y'all wanna see it?"
"It might be worth it. It's not like we're in a rush back to the palace anyway," said Shionne.
"Splendid! Follow me den. I'll lead da way,"
They didn't have to follow the old farmer long before they came across a quaint, lonesome, yellow house surrounded by a large amount of land and on the corner of the road. Surrounding the house was a small brown, wooden picket fence. The house looked to be about two stories tall, and large enough for them to have company over, and maybe even raise a family. However, from the outside, the house looked run down. But nothing a few coats of paint and some elbow grease couldn't fix.
"What is this place?" asked the couple.
"T'was my oldest son and his wife. A Zeugle got 'em while they were outside and they died," he sighed.
"I'm so sorry to hear that," comforted Shionne.
"Tis alright. That was a long time ago now. I've ain't had the heart to fix it up after I cleaned it out. So, it sat here for many a year. But now, I think I'm ready for it to go, especially if y'all gonna take it. I know y'all gonna do right by it,"
"Are you sure? We wouldn't feel right living in a house that belonged to your family," said Alphen.
"Nonsense! Consider it a gift from me to y'all. After all, y'all done did for this world and me. Tis the least I can do for ya,"
"Thank you," smiled Shionne as she held the farmer's hand in hers.
"Aw shucks. Your girl here knows how to make an old man blush. Come now. Let me show y'all around,"
They followed the old man as he walked up to the front door and unlocked it. They walked inside but had to cover their noses and mouths due to all the dust and dirt everywhere. But after they opened the windows to air it out and let some light in, they immediately fell in love with the place.
Their observations from the outside were right. It was two stories with two full bathrooms, four bedrooms, a large kitchen, a living room, and a dining room home. Unfortunately, because of how long it sat, the house needed more than just some paint and elbow grease. It needed new flooring, doors, and a few other necessities and cosmetic touches. But nothing that couldn't be done with some time. According to the farmer, his son and his wife were expecting triplets when they were murdered by the Zeugle. The moment they found out how many children they were having, the son built their home. His wife was about six months pregnant when she died. She was expected to have an early labor too, which made the tale sadder. However, he reassured them that he was happy that someone strong will inhabit the house and take good care of it.
After more time looking over the place, they agreed to buy the home. But he wouldn't take money for it. The farmer told them to save their money and put it towards repairs. Truly an honest and kind gentleman. He told them that they could draw up the paperwork tomorrow if they like, and they could move in whenever they made it safe enough. Excited about their new home, the couple thanked the old man again and promised to meet him tomorrow to sign the paperwork. Afterward, they raced back home to tell their friends.
The next day, as promised, they met the old man in the city and completed the paperwork to gain ownership. Excited and ready to see the couple's new home, their friends traveled with them to the location. At first, the others were worried about the decision they made. But after some convincing, their friends couldn't be happier for them. In fact, Dohalim offered to pay for repairs, which led to a small argument between the group. Luckily, Kisara was their mediator, and they came up with a simple agreement: Dohalim would pay for the repairs under the condition that he could send some of his best people to help speed the project along and decorate it. Alphen, Kisara, and Law countered and said that they will help with the labor while Dohalim, Rinwell, and Shionne are in charge of decorations and that the couple was to stay within the palace until their new home passed inspection. With the conditions in motion, the friends returned to Viscount to celebrate with a night of alcohol and food. The next few weeks to a month will bring another great adventure for the friends as they help their favorite couple take their first steps into their new life.
