Sabine Dupain-Cheng raised her eyebrow at her daughter, Marinette, running down the stairs at record speed. "Slept in again, I see?"
"Can'ttalknowmamalateforschoolbyeloveyou." Marinette yelled as she ran out the door.
Tom Dupain-Cheng chuckled as his wife went to the register. "Sometimes I wonder why our daughter even has an alarm clock."
Unbeknownst to them, an alarm clock could only do so much when an akuma pushed Marinette's studying for today's test way past midnight. Marinette groaned as she walked into the classroom, a few minutes before homeroom started to fit in one last review. "Rolled over after turning your alarm off?" Alya, her best friend, asked from here desk.
"Yup," Marinette replied, pulling out notes that she had only partially memorized before the akuma attack last night.
"I feel yuh," Nino said, Alya's boyfriend who sat in front of them. "I'm thankful my mom is my backup alarm."
"Another design?" The boy who sat next to Nino, Adrien, looked up from his notes. Much like Marinette he was interested in design because of his modeling career, influenced by his father Gabriel Agreste who owned a famous fashion design company.
Marinette groaned. "I wish."
"Perhaps we should-" An earthquake cut him off as he and everyone in the classroom stopped what they were doing. Distant car alarms began blaring.
"Another akuma?" Alya asked. "So quickly?"
"I'm not going to stick around and find out! If it's anything like Stormy Weather's second akumatization, I'm going home!" Marinette lied, packing her backpack quickly as she thought of possible place to transform.
"Smart idea," Adrien agreed, matching Marinette's haste in packing.
"Anything to skip this test!" Nino said. "You need any help Alya?"
Alya nodded as she was swiping through her phone as she rushed out of the classroom, Nino on her heels. "Definitely. Let's see if anyone is already on the scene of the akuma and…" She grew silent and stopped at the bottom of the stairs perplexed as Nino slowed and guided her out of the way of the crowd of students hastily evacuating. The attention shift made them miss both Adrien and Marinette going back into certain rooms of the school that people were running out of.
"Alya? What is it?"
"There's a fight going on several blocks down from us?"
"Ladybug and Cat Noir are already there?" Nino was confused on why Alya sounded perplexed over the location.
"No, two others I don't recognize." She showed her phone to Nino, playing the video she found from someone on the scene. A girl with orange hair dressed like a cat flying above monstrous rat-like creatures with a giant green fly dressed in black and white.
"Or Cat Girl and Bug Thing? What's going on and what happened?"
Adrien sighed as he closed the restroom door, relieved to have found the restroom to be empty. "Plagg, Claws Out!"
Marinette peaked around the lockers before opening her purse. "Let's go! Tikki, Spots On!"
"Where the heck are we!" Stinkfly yelled, unable to get a grip on his surroundings other than the mutant hamsters and the people that Lucky Girl was helping. "And where's Animo?"
Gwen grabbed a couple of kids and bounded down to the end of the block to get them to safety. "No idea, but try using your stink-goop to stick these guys up!"
Stinky and sticky, the two things that Stinkfly was great at. Just as Stinkfly was starting to, the hamsters began to shrink back to their normal size.
Stinkfly paused his sticky assault. "Wait, if they're transforming back…"
"Then that means that Animo's device was damaged," Gwen finished, looking around to get her bearings for the first time. "Um… Stinkfly?"
He turned from looking at the now distressed regular hamsters in his stinky goop. "What?" He followed her finger to what she was pointing, making his wings droop as he recognized the iconic Eiffel Tower. "Oh."
"I don't think we're in Kansas anymore, Ben," Gwen whispered.
Author's Note:
Yes, they WERE in Kansas in the Prologue.
Fun reference of Lucky Girl and Stinkbug to Ladybug and Cat Noir right? Kinda was the CATalyst for this whole story.
Special thanks to my pal Archer for helping flesh out this story and editing. Hopefully you enjoy the story.
