Arthur and his parents are driving in the car.
Arthur grumbles. "Why?"
David looks into the rear view mirror. "Why what, Arthur?"
Arthur sighs annoyed. "Why do I have to go to a boring photo shoot with you when it's sunny outside? It would be way more fun to hang out with Buster!"
D.W. frowns. "Boy, Arthur sure likes to ask questions!"
David steers through a side street. "Sometimes we have to do things we don't want to do."
(The car arrives at the party)
Arthur looks out of the window and gasps. "What!? There's no kids! You said there would be kids! I'm only seeing adults!"
Jane shrugs. "Lucy told me there would be kids coming."
"Oh really?! Well where are they?!" Arthur asks very annoyed.
David locks the handbrake. "They're probably coming later."
Arthur was still annoyed. "Why?"
Lucy waves to Jane from the front step of her house.
Jane sighs. all "These questions... sometimes you just can't know the answer to everything."
Arthur grumbles. "And sometimes YOU can't know the answer to anything!"
Francine Frensky: (V.O.) Family Photo (Arthur grabs an umbrella off-screen.)
(Fade back to the episode.)
Jane looked a bit disappointed at him. "Arthur, its's enough!"
Michael scratches his head. "Dad, Arthur's been whining and acting annoying since we left Elwood City!"
They left the car and greeted Lucy. Jane gave her a hug. "Hey Lucy! It's so great to be here!"
Lucy laughs and fondles D.W.´s hair, making her giggle. "Aunt Lucy!" She hugs her aunt happily. Lucy turns to the boys. "Arthur, Michael, how are you two?"
Michael hugs her. "I'm fine!"
Arthur passed them, with an bored expression on the face. "Sure, me too…"
David followed him into the hallway. "Arthur, what was that?"
When Arthur turned around, David put a hand on his shoulder. "Be kind, okay? None of us wanted this to happen either! How you behave now is all up to you, okay? I know! Try to occupy yourself here in the photo shoot. At least give it a shot, please?"
Arthur pouted, but still responded. "How long till the Photo shoot?"
"Uuuh, I don't know."
Arthur stormed away, stomping the ground in anger. David put everyone's lunch in the fridge and sighed, just when his wife came in.
"Hopefully he calms down soon!"
Jane nodded. "He's been like this all morning. I never would have guessed other kids not being here would be such a big deal for him."
David smiles. "Trust me Jane, Arthur will come around soon. I know it."
Jane shrugs. "Yeah, but he was giving Michel a hard time while they were getting dressed! He didn't wanted to wear his blue suit, he just wanted his casual clothes."
Back inside…
Arthur jumps on the couch. "Why can't grown-ups ever just answer a simple question? Why can't they just say, "Yes, we know the time, and this is what it is?""
He sighs in annoyance and turns the knobs on a TV, but each channel is static.
Arthur grumbles. "Why, why, why, why, why, why, why."why"
As Arthur was scrolling through channels, he found one he wasn't expecting to see again. "Hey, that TV show in the middle… It's the Terrific Troopers T-Bot Show." He didn't switch the channel again.
In fact, he was glad he found this show. "I can give it a second chance. Nothing else to do, and it's the middle of the episode. This part shouldn't have flashing lights like in the intro! Maybe this isn't so bad after…" Arthur never finished that sentence.
A few hours later...
D.W headed inside the house. When she entered the living room, she saw Arthur watching the T-Bot show and yelled. "ARTHUR NO! That show is trouble! Dad forbid you to watch it!"
She grabs the remote and turned the TV off. "Phew, that was close!"
Arthur stares at her, with crossed arms, annoyed and angry. "D.W., give me the remote! It's so boring here, I have nothing else to do!"
D.W. ran out of the living room. "MOM! DAD! Arthur tried to watch the bad TV show!"
Jane, who was holding Kate, and David stood with Lucy and her husband when they heard D.W. shouting.
Jane looks over to David in a panic. "WHAT?! Why would he do that?!"
David gasps. "Oh my goodness. I told him to occupy himself, but not with that TV show! I'm gonna go talk with him."
Michael came over to his younger sister. "D.W., how did Arthur find that show?"
D.W. shrugs. "He used the remote I guess."
Michael looks around. "Hold on dad, I'm coming with you!"
When Michael entered the room without knocking, Arthur was still sitting on the couch, clenching his teeth, his eyes glaring at his brother.
"What?" Arthur forced out.
Michael looks at him. Are you alright?"
Arthur shook his head angrily. "This day is boring, and a MESS! The Family photo, after last night we had to watch our sisters. We deserve a day for us, but nooooo. We have to go here and waste time instead!"
"You look a little...angry" Michael said calmly.
Arthur answers in a sarcastically voice. "I'm fine, Michael!"
Michael sighs. "Arthur, what's gotten into you lately?"
Arthur grumbled. "I'm tired. At least you were able to sleep without a little sister at your side. She moves around all night, pushing me to the edge of the bed. And now we're gonna spend the whole day here, that's boring!"
"Oh… okay, but it´s not the fault of anyone else here!"
David entered the room and stopped in front of Arthur, crossing his arms.
"Arthur, enough of this! You were mean to Aunt Lucy, and you're acting like we ruined your time, but you're ruining our time here! Sometimes we have to do things we don't like, even us adults. Do you think I like everything I do? It's lame, but that's life!"
"But I guess that doesn't matter now. Jessica arrived with Cora and your Cousin Reese is here with his family. Some young people are around, just like you wanted Arthur. Now please, behave yourself."
Arthur sighs and looked ashamed down. "Sorry dad. I… I guess I was a bit out of line."
He stood up when Aunt Lucy came in. Arthur ran over to her and gave her a hug as he sniffled. " Sorry I was acting rotten Aunt Lucy! It´s sweet to see you!"
His aunt fondles his hair and laughs. "It's fine, my dear. I know that it could be boring with us adults sometimes. I talked with mom and dad, so I don't blame you after the hard week you had! It´s sweet how you still took care of your sisters despite that all. I'm proud of you!"
"Arthur, Michael! HEY!" Cora enters the room, with D.W. by her side. The cousin of the boys smiles. "Do you guys wanna hang out in the garden until the photo shoot? I got pictures from our vacation at the bahamas!"
Arthur and Michael look over to David, and he nods. "Sure, I guess it will be fun!"
Thankfully, Cora seems to have changed her bratty behavior since Aunt Lucy's wedding, and was acting more friendly now.
Sometime later…
Arthur, Michael and D.W. sat with Cora under a tree, looking at her photos from the vacation. Jane and Tabitha, Reese´s wife, sat close by on the grass with Kate and Tabitha´s daughter, Gwendolyne.
Arthur felt better now. They were having fun and laughing, in fact, it seemed Arthur had completely forgotten about the last few days. The seizure, the night he was babysitting D.W. and Kate... It was all in the past, and it didn't upset him nearly as much anymore now that he thought about how he felt.
Looking back on it, he felt proud that he let D.W. spend the night with him. D.W. could be annoying sometimes, he thought, but maybe Michael and dad were right, sometimes a 2nd older brother must do what he have to.
Cora held up a picture where she was sitting behind her dad on a jet ski, both laughing and waving.
D.W. gasps. "I want to ride a thing like that!"
Cora giggles. "It´s called a jet ski, and you have to be taller for that, but no worries, you'll grow faster if you just believe!" She fondles D.W.´s hair, making them both giggle.
Aunt Lucy came out of the house, followed by Grandpa Dave and Uncle Fred, who stumbles over the stairs of the veranda. He grabs the handrail in last second and waves with a smile. The kids laugh, even Jane and Tabitha did so.
Lucy claps her hands. "Okay everyone, time for the picture! Let's do this, then we'll have a fantastic dinner!" She laughs and waves with both hands.
Lucy´s husband, Curt, places a camera on a tripod in front of the house. All of the family came together now.
Grandpa Dave stood on the right, with Fred beside him, then David and Jane with Kate in her arms. Jessica and Richard were next in the line, then David´s mother Thora, and Lucy to her left.
She laughs to her husband. "Hurry, handsome, or you'll be left out!"
In the next line stood Cousin Reese with Tabitha, who held hands with Gwendolyne, then Cora, Arthur, and Michael. D.W. stood in front of her brothers.
Curt activates the timer and rushes over. "Alright, ten, nine..."
He stops beside Lucy and wraps his arm around her. "three, two, one!"
All family members smiled and waved at the same moment.
"CHEEEEEEESE!"
Arthur felt happy this moment, and, with his loving family, he could get through anything.
