TW/CW: Mild Blood

After freaking out about ending up in My Hero Academia, I finally got my act together and
realized I could fix things with the knowledge I have of the series.
"I'm not letting Kotaro's actions lead to the creation of Tomura Shigaraki." I thought.
.
.
.
Nao noticed her husband has been acting strange lately.
It all started when he started to act nicer to Tenko and did away with the harsh punishments.
He started acting like a better father.
Nao can only hope this change is for good. She can only hope.
.
.
.
After waking up and showering, I rushed down the stairs and headed to the kitchen.
"Hey bae." I said.
"Bae?" Nao questioned.
"You're my wife. It wouldn't be that strange to call you bae. "
"You…You never called me 'bae' before." Nao said.
"Well, it's now or never." I said cheerfully.
Nao still can't get over how weird it is to see her husband smile genuinely.
.
.
.
"What's up kiddo?" I said, as I ruffled Tenko's hair.
Tenko and Hana had already finished breakfast and were busy coloring in the living room.
"Oh?" I said when Tenko came up running to me with a sheet of paper in his hand.
"Dad. Look!" Tenko said, showing his drawing.
"Woah! That's amazing buddy!" I chirped.
A bright smile formed on Tenko's face.
"Keep up the good work." I said, giving Tenko a thumb-up.
From behind, Nao couldn't help but smile at her husband with the way he's treating the kids.
.
.
.
It was a late night and I was up thinking.
I frowned while deep in thought.
"Eventually Tenko's quirk will awaken." I thought.
You learned Tenko was five years old and you knew that's when he awakened his quirk.
He was a late bloomer.
"No one has to die this time." I thought.
I turned to face Nao as she turned in bed towards me.
"Hmm?" Nao said. "What's wrong?"
"Nothing. Just thinking." I answered.
Nao nodded.
"Hey bae." I said.
"Yeah?" Nao said.
"What if Tenko's quirk awakened?" I said.
"Wasn't he deemed quirkless?" Nao said, thinking about Tenko's doctor visit.
"Yeah, but he could be a late bloomer. It happens." I explained.
Nao turned on the night lamp next to her.
We both sat up in bed.
"If he awakens his quirk, he awakens his quirk then." Nao said.
"But what if it's something destructive." I said.
"Neither of our quirks are destructive." Nao said.
"Quirks mutate all the time." I said.
Nao shook her head.
"You're overthinking things."' Nao reasoned.
I sighed.
Sometimes I wished I could just tell her I'm not her 'Kotaro', that I'm from another world.
She'll probably think I'm crazy.
What did you do with my husband?!
I can imagine her screaming that.
"But if it means preventing the birth of Shigaraki, I'll do anything!" I thought.
.
.
.
One late evening, I heard screaming from the backyard.
"Oh no." I thought.
So soon?
I rushed to get the gloves Tenko needed to wear and headed to the backyard.
My eyes were glued to Tenko who was curled up. Next to him was a puddle of blood.
"Mon." I muttered.
I turned to face Hana.
"Hana! Stay back!" I shouted.
I stepped closer to Tenko.
"Tenko." I said softly.
"Dad!" Tenko cried.
"Don't worry. I'm right here." I said.
"Kotaro!" a Voice said.
I turned to see Nao by the sliding door, behind her was her parents.
"Everything is gonna be alright." I said confidently
.
.
.
"Tenko, I need you to put these on." I said softly.
I looked at Tenko again and frowned.
He's too freaked out to understand what's going on.
I stepped a bit closer.
"Don't!" Tenko cried.
"It's okay. You won't hurt me." I promised.
Tears ran down Tenko's face.
.
.
.
Eventually, Tenko was able to put on the gloves.
"See, now you can't hurt me." I said.
Tenko nodded as he wiped the tears off his face and ran to give me a big hug.
"Tenko-" Nao screamed.
She stopped when she realized I wasn't disintegrating.
She sank down to her knees, with tears running down her face.
She almost lost her husband.
.
.
.
I was pacing around the hospital floor.
The doctors were doing several tests on Tenko's quirk.
They had never seen anything like it before.
I could think about All For One.
What if he comes after us?
"Mr. Shimura?" The Doctor interrupted.
I snapped out of my thoughts.
"Is Tenko alright?!" I said.
"He's fine." The Doctor said. "I wanted to talk to you about something."
The doctor took me to the side.
"How did you know Tenko needed quirk-suppressing gloves?"
"Oh-"
I knew something like this would come up.
How do I explain to everyone how I knew about Tenko's quirk before his quirk manifested?
I rubbed the nape of my neck.
"I…I can't tell you." I said.
The doctor frowned.
.
.
.
Tenko had to spend the night for an overnight observation.
"Kotaro." Nao said softly.
"Huh?" I said after waking up.
"We got to go." Nao said.
"But Tenko-"
"He'll be safe here." Nao insisted.
An image of All For One appeared in my head.
"Is something wrong?" Nao said, noticing how my face was full of despair.
"Nothing."
.
.
.
The next day, we arrived at the hospital a little early before Tenko's discharge time.
I was overwhelmed with information on quirk counseling, support groups, and safety procedures.
Tenko's quirk is a mutation which means he can't turn it off.
It's something he was to live with.
He will always have to wear quirk-suppressing gloves and keep an extra one on hand wherever he goes.
.
.
.
A few days have passed and life seemed to return back to normal.
I was filled with anxiety.
I don't want All For One to take my son!
Wait a minute.
Son?
He's…not my son.
Is he?
"Ow! My head." I grumbled, with my hand resting on my forehead.
Nao stopped whatever she was doing and placed her hand on my forehead.
"Doesn't seem like a fever. Probably just a migraine." Nao said.
