Far away from Surrey, near the little town of Ottery St. Catchpole Ron Weasley awoke in a cold sweat. "That dream was entirely too real." Ron muttered aloud. Ron was angry with himself for being so frightened of a dream, but also angry because he'd written Harry several days ago, asking him to come stay and he still hadn't responded! "I hope he replies tomorrow." Ron thought as he drifted back off to sleep. Ron awoke to the smell of bacon. "Alright! Mum's been cooking." He thought. Ron bounded down the stairs. "Mum what you been cooking?" He asked. "Ron." He looked up, and saw his mother's face wet with tears. "Mum, what's the matter?" She didn't respond. Only looked at the parchment in her hand and walked over to Ron to hug him. "Mum?!" Ron asked once again. "Mum what's going on?" "Ron, dearest I don't know how to say this." Mrs. Weasley trailed off. "Mum please tell me what's going on!" Ron pleaded. "Darling, it's Harry." "He can't come and stay or something?" "No, it's not that he's.dead." Ron stared at his mother for a moment with a complete look of shock on his face. "Mum, that's not funny." "I'm not joking Ron." Ron looked at his mother again, and ran into her arms. Ron kept repeating, "Harry dead?" over and over as his mother held him close. She gently smoothed down his hair and pulled away to look at his face. "Ron sweetie, I know it's hard for you. I'm sorry." "I know you are Mum, but you can't begin to understand. Harry wasn't supposed to die he was the boy-who-lived. It's not right! It can't be." Ron sobbed. "Ron, sweetums, I'm afraid it is." Mrs. Weasley looked at her son with tears in her eyes. Ron suddenly stopped, "Mum does Hermione know? She's Harry's best friend too!" Ron said. "I'm sure she got a letter." Mrs. Weasley replied. As soon as the words left Mrs. Weasley's mouth, an owl flew through the window, landed on the table and stuck out it's leg. Ron grabbed the parchment off the owl's leg. It was a note from Hermione's parents it began Dear Ron, We are writing this letter for Hermione since she cannot do it herself at the moment. She wishes to see you in Diagon Alley, as soon as possible. She say's she needs your comfort If at all possible, today at 3 'o' clock in front of Flourish and Blotts. Sincerely, Mr. And Mrs. Granger "Oh Mum!" Ron looked at his mother imploringly, "Can I go?" "Of course you can, darling." Mrs. Weasley said as she hugged her son again. "Go and get yourself prepared, I should probably wake the other's and tell them." Ron ran up the stairs and got himself ready; below him he heard loud crying. "I suspect Mum's told Ginny then." Ron thought to himself. Ron walked back down the stairs and sat at the table, not really feeling anything.
