Title: What He Deserved
Author: NovaScotia
Rating: PG-13
Feedback: positive, constructive, flames equally welcome.
Spoilers: You should know what happened to the Xander/Anya
relationship in Hell's Bells.
Synopsis: What if vengeance demons could make wishes on their
own behalf? Anya would have used her powers on Xander, of
course.
Disclaimer: Does anyone out there really think any of us
fanfic writers own the characters?
Takes place after Xander and Anya broke up, when Anya is again
a vengeance demon.
Xander was babbling on about loving her and wanting to be
together. Words; they were just empty words. His pathetic
statements meant nothing to Anya. After all, Xander was
supposed to love her. He was supposed to marry her. He
wasn't supposed to walk out on her at their wedding.
A blinding fury surged within her. He thought he could talk
himself back into her good graces, the whiny, disloyal MAN.
He couldn't be trusted; never should have been. Oh, how her
fellow vengeance demons must have laughed at her as she
fell for his smooth words. Lies, all lies. Well, she
wouldn't allowed herself to be tricked this time. She was
Anyanka again, and she would have her revenge.
She morphed into demon face and recited a handy all-purpose
wish that popped into her head like it was waiting for her to
decide to use it. "I wish you had tentacles where your beady
eyes should be! I wish your intestines were tied in knots and
ripped apart inside your lousy gut!"
The stunned Xander had virtually no time to register her
speech, for a pair of beautiful, squid-like tentacles promptly
sprouted out of his eye sockets. Before he could do more than
emit a strangled scream, his stomach bulged out, then in, then
out again. Clutching his middle, Xander sank to his knees.
Anya watched as he then collapsed onto his side, mouth open in
a huge "O" of agony. She immediately felt much better. It was
true; doling out punishment was always rewarding, but the
revenge was definitely sweetest when the matter was personal.
She turned and headed for the door, but spared one last look at
her ex-boyfriend. Xander had begun to writhe on the floor. Anya
smiled grimly and walked out, knowing he would be dead soon
enough. She had only turned the first guy who had crossed her
into a troll, but Xander had earned himself a harsher punishment.
