From the moment we met, her eyes had only held contempt for me.
Was my face or demeanor vulgar to her? I knew not the source of
her disdain, perhaps I do not want to. Yet, I love her still. With
a burning desire within my heart, I wanted her.
If it was the past she disliked, it would be forever erased
from me. I would be a man of the future. Was it my family's
bloodline? They too would be gone from my life. For just one smile
from her sweet lips, I would do anything.
My angel's love was an unattainable goal. It was reserved for
those closest to her heart. I was not among the priviledged. To be
in her good graces would be a dream come true. I would be her knight,
her prince, if only she saw me as more than a monster.
Somehow in her youth, she was able to show me mercy. I never
knew how thrilling it could feel to be cared for. Through all her
incarnations she sought to destroy me. Even though her intentions
were for the good, I knew where her heart truly lay. I did not pity
or despise her, merely loved her.
For that brief moment, where I held her in my arms while she
slept, I knew heaven. If her reaction had been gentler, perhaps I
would not have behaved so irrationally. My love was with me not
for long, yet I still remember her scent. It will be with me
forever. The sweetness of her lips were forever engraved upon my soul
as I kissed her that one night.
Such an unearthly being was a miracle to even have existed
in the mortal realm. Her very prescence echoed of the Moon's glory.
Akin to the goddess she was named after, her beauty surpassed that
of Venus. I was a fool, courting the moon as my love. Only one
man could win her love, I was not he.
The contrast between us should not push us apart, but
complement our natures. My beautiful, bright, Serenity. She
was the light to my darkness. To have her love me was a wishful
thought indeed. The queen was far above me. She was the star
that gave life to others. I was the one who was meant to destroy
all hope.
Was it because she knew I saw her in all of her beauty and
in every life that she cast me down? I cannot believe that my queen
would be as cruel as that. Her every being spoke of her goodness and
purity. Yet, even after she knew the truth, we still followed the
path that destiny led us. An endless circle of battles, only to end
in my demise.
