Kate looked out the window and watched the rain dribble down
the window. She was the only Weasley to be a blondie. But that wasn't
what she was disappointed about. It was the fact that her whole family had
been sorted into Gryffindor. But that is not how she felt. She wasn't
brave, or even that friendly. She was now a first year at Hogwarts
School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. She wanted to be in the same house as
her big brother Ron, but she didn't think THAT was ever going to happen. "
I'm not a Gryffindor!" She pouted as they started to paint her bedroom
gold.
" But why not? Her mom asked.
" Do I act like one?" Kate asked with a loud tone.
" At this rate.. You aren't!" She said as she sent Kate into her bedroom corner. " Why can't you be more like your brothers and sister?"
" I'm not like them mum!" Kate yelled before she closed the door. " I'm not a Gryffindor!"
The week after, the whole family had gone to Diagon Alley, and gotten their stuff. Kate's wand was a black wand with a snake fang inside it. On the Hogwarts Express, Kate sat next to a dark brown haired girl. Her name was Kim. She talked too much. So much that Kate lost her temper, and shook her shaking fist in her face. That scared Kim running into the hall. When at Hogwarts, Kate met Draco Malfoy, and his brainless friends. " Look here! ANOTHER Weasley. ANOTHER Gryffindor!" He said with a disgusted look on his face.
" No!" Kate yelled. " Your wrong! I'm different from the others!"
The sorting began. Kate saw that Ginny had saved a seat for her right at her side. She winked, and gave her a thumbs up. " Oh please." She said.
" Sckobey, Kim" Professor Mc. Gonagall called Kim to the front.
" Uhh... Hufflepuff!" The Sorting Hat yelled. As Kim sat down, the Fat Friar came up to congratulate her.
" Anderson, Spiffy."
" Ravenclaw!"
" Clearwater, Chester."
" Gryffindor!"
Finally, it was Kate's turn. The whole Gryffindor table just sat back as if they knew what would happen. The old hat sat on top of her head for a few seconds before it said " Slytherin!" The whole hall filled with whispers as Kate sat down at the table near the left wall.
There were whispers like " Kate Weasley? A Slytherin?"
" What'r my folks gonna say?" Kate asked herself.
The next day Kate got a Howler from home. " Hey! Weasley's got herself a howler!" A 7th year that looked somewhat like a gorilla said. Kate opened it. The paper formed the shape of a mouth. Mrs. Weasley's voice came screaming out of it. It said
" Katherine Weasley!!!! Thanks to you! You have ruined our thousand-year Gryffindor streak!!! Don't be surprised if we paint your FACE red!" It spit at her and tore up. Kate was home for the Holidays, and TRIED to stay away from Mrs. Weasley. After all, she was too mad for words at her. It was like she hated her, and at the same time she probably wished Kate had never been born. Kate packed her things to run away temporarily until school started again.
" Going somewhere?" Fred asked as he entered the room and stretched out on the bed.
" Away." Kate answered while throwing some books in a black suitcase.
" But you can't! Mum forgave you!" George said as he entered the room and sat on the bed next to Fred.
" I didn't do anything!" Kate argued. " All I did was act differently, and put in a different house!"
" Right." Fred said as he closed his eyes still lying on the bed.
" I AM right!" She stomped out of the room.
Over the next few days there were arguments, fight, and screaming. Until finally, they gave up. Mr. Weasley confessed that his great great great great grandpa was a Slytherin. Hatred was turned off, and the family was FINALLY at peace. And from then on, nobody in it was insulted for being different.
