As I look back on it, it all begins to seem so clear. I can pinpoint the moment it all went wrong. It began ten years ago, the day I began my Ascension.
Ten Years Ago.
".And on this day, I submit that Homo Superior shall be the new Masters of this Planet, with My glorious Self as their leader!" intoned the voice speaking from each and every television set, advertising screen and computer monitor in the world. "As my first act as Grand Master of Earth, I order that a price of one million dollars be placed on the head of any surviving member of the so-called 'Friends of Humanity', to be redeemed upon delivery, dead or alive! In addition, on the head of any who stand against me, a price of $500000, also to be redeemed upon delivery of the body, dead or alive."
Heard in the crowd.
Man: "How can he do that? I mean, he's gotta be nuts!"
Little Girl: "Mommy, is he really our new leader? I don't like him. He wants to kill people."
Woman: "I know, dear, but there's nothing we can do about it."
Dr. Hank McCoy: "Ahh, now is the winter of our discontent. And with the rise of such a tyrant, none are safe."
Prof. Charles Xavier: «And this is the man I once called friend.» "He must be stopped!"
Scott Summers: But how, Professor?"
