A/N: Hello everyone! This is my first Harry Potter fanfiction!!! I got inspired the other day ... so I decided to take a go at it. This story is prolly going to have very little romance ... but I might throw a little something in there for all the HG/RW fans! Oh by the way this is NOT slash. I probably wont continue this story if I don't get good reviews on it. SO PLEASE review it if you like it. That way I can know if it's worth continuing. Thanks ever so much! =) Oh and please excuse my poor grammar ... I really do try.
A/N 2: *Warning* ... this story contains some highly emotional subject matter. It talks about child abuse ... and maybe even rape later on in the story. (But there will be no talk of rape in this chapter.)
Summary: When Harry returns home, from his first year at Hogwarts, he finds out that not much has changed. Or has it? Can anyone help him through it? Sometimes you can find help from the most unlikely people.
Disclaimer: I own ... ::looks around desperately:: ... nothing! ::cries:: I own nothing ... I'm poor!!! ::hangs head in shame::

Harry Potter quietly walked through the train station ... following his Uncle Vernon closely behind. His Uncle was pushing Harry's cart filled with his Hogwart's possessions ... while Harry carried a cage with Hedwig inside. He had had a great first year at Hogwarts, and even though it had only been a couple of minutes since he had last talked to his friends ... he was already starting to miss them. He couldn't imagine what would change now that he was coming back to the Dursley house. Would things change? Or will everything go back to normal? Harry wasn't quite sure; all he knew was that this was going to be one long summer.
The short walk from platform 9 and 3/4 to the Dursley's family car seemed to take a millennium. But they finally reached their destination. In silence, Vernon Dursley walked over to the side of the car and tossed inside Harry's belongings and hastily shut the door. He then proceeded to the driver's side. Harry opened the backside door and gently placed Hedwig's cage inside. He stood there for a moment pondering on whether he should sit in the back, like he normally did, or up front with is Uncle. Harry came to his decision when he heard Vernon clear his throat in a "we don't have time for this" way. Harry slid quietly into the back seat. He never had the desire to sit up front before ... and now he came to realize ... that he still didn't.
The drive to 4 Pivet Drive was the most excruciating wait Harry had ever dealt with. There was complete silence, except for the occasional hoot from Hedwig. Harry looked out the window in deep thought. I wish he would say something. Anything. He could yell at me for all I care. Just end this silence! Harry probably couldn't have been more relieved, when the pulled up in the driveway. The well-earned wash of relief was short lived though, because right at that moment Harry's anxiety started up again.
He felt a sudden lurch in his stomach.
Vernon got out of the car, without a word to Harry, and walked into the house. Harry took in a deep breath and slowly emerged from the car. He picked up Hedwig and started walking toward the house. I'll come back for my stuff ... once I find out where to put it. I might end up back in the closet under the stairs for all I know. Harry slowly opened the door and walked inside. He looked around for a few seconds before he started to walk up the stairs. It looks the same. Harry walked down the upstairs hallway to, what was last time he was here, his room or Dudley's second room. He opened the door to find everything as it was before he left it. Dudley's broken stuff lying everywhere. He walked over to a desk in the corner and placed Hedwig's cage down. "I'll be right back, I promise," he said to her.
Harry went back out to the car to fetch his possessions. It took him a while ... but he eventually got everything unloaded and put away in the room. He walked to over to his bedroom door and closed it. Then he went and plopped down on his bed. Harry let his eyes close and his mind wander. It began thinking about school and his friends. Oh, how he missed them already. Before Harry knew it ... he had fallen asleep.

Harry was walking down one of the corridors of the Gryffindor tower. He was alone and things seemed a bit too quiet. Normally there were students hurrying about in the halls socializing and such. But now it was like walking around the campus at midnight, when everyone else was in their rooms asleep. I would know, especially after all the sneaking around I had to do last year during the night. Despite the overwhelming sense of dread, he continued walking.
Yet, despite the eerie silence, things seemed as normal as possible. He looked around at the walls and his surroundings. Everything seemed to be fine. Then suddenly out of nowhere there was a terrified scream. Harry turned around the in a flash. No one was there. He stood there for a few moments trying to catch his breath. He stared down the long hallway in which he had just walked down.
Once he was sure no one was there, Harry turned back around. But to his surprise ... someone was there. It was Hermione. She stood nearly inches away from him. "Hermoine, what are you doing here," asked Harry. Hermoine didn't respond, but just stared back at him. She looks so pale. "Moine?" Harry reached out to her, but right at that same moment she crumpled to the ground. She landed face down on the floor.
Harry panicked and bent down over her. He slowly turned her over, and the sight was one that could have made Deatheater scream with fright. Harry screamed in horror as he looked upon the face of his best friend. Her eyes where rolled up inside her head, and there was blood spewing from her mouth. He jumped back nearly fell over. "Oh ... Hermoine ... oh sweet Merlin," was all he could say.
Harry suddenly felt something wet slide down his face. He was crying. What in the h*** is going on! Hermoine is dead. Oh god! She's dead! Harry suddenly began to sob uncontrollably. He started to slowly back up further. Then he turned as fast as he could and ran. He didn't know where he was going; all he knew was that he couldn't stand there with 'her' body lying there.
He heard a low rumble in the distance. It called out to him. "Harry ...,"it said. Harry knew he had heard that voice somewhere before, but he wasn't sure. He didn't dare stop to find out though. He kept running to nowhere in particular. He had the strangest feeling that if he stopped the owner of that voice would kill him. "Harry, Harry, Harry," it called to him. "No!!! I won't! Leave me alone," Harry screamed.
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Harry bolted right up in a sitting position on his bead. Harry didn't have much time to catch his breath or regain a full grip on reality, for right at that moment his Uncle burst through the door. "Leave you be, huh? You won't? Oh by golly you will," screamed Vernon. He ran up to Harry, with a shade of deep red consuming his face, and slapped him, and slapped him hard. Harry flew backwards landing back on the safety of his bead. "I'll teach you to disobey me! How dare you say no to me? I've been banging on that door and screaming your name for 5 minutes! You ungrateful little snot!" Harry touched his hand to his cheek. Well that explains that weird voice calling my name.
Uncle Vernon walked back towards the door, turned, and then said, "I expect you downstairs in the kitchen in 5 minutes! Dudley is coming home from school today, and your Aunt wants everything to be perfect, especially dinner." He then turned and left Harry sitting there stunned.
Harry waited there for a few moments, trying to register what just happened. Man, that dream was scary. How long was I asleep? Two hours. He glanced over at a small alarm clock that was on a table by his bed. He normally wouldn't have had that, but Hermoine had given it to him this past Holiday. She had said it would help me be more prompt for classes. Suddenly the thought of her made his stomach hurt. He could still remember how she had looked in the dream. The pain in his stomach, and heart, reminded him of his burning cheek. He placed his hand on top of it, but flinched at the contact.
He was brought out of his trance at the sound of his Uncle's voice echoing down the hall. "BOY! Get yourself down here before I beat you," Vernon yelled. Harry sighed. I guess things haven't changed. I don't know why I thought they would in the first place.
Yep this definitely is going to be one long summer. He got up and walked downstairs to face his Aunt and Uncle and unwillingly reclaim his place as the hated one in their lives.
