Disclaimer: I don't own anything.
'Never meant to be? What did he mean? How can I lose my little brother?' Sango thought, tears welling up in her eyes.
Flashback
For just a moment, Gohaku had regained his consciousness.
"Sister? I'm sorry, but maybe we were never meant to be together. I don't want to hurt you, but that's what I seem to be doing. Please, don't die by my hands." All of a sudden, his eyes turned dull and he started to go after Sango again.
Anger burned in Sango's eyes, but nothing could be done as long as Naraku had control over Gohaku.
"Naraku." Sango mumbled under her breath, her entire soul ablaze with rage.
End
Slowly, sleep enveloped her. Miroku noticed that Sango was shivering. He silently crawled up to where she was sleeping and covered her with the blanket (since she was kicking around in her slumber, it had come off). It was extremely hard for him to resist groping her, but knew how terrible she must feel.
"Gohaku, why?" Miroku heard her mumble incoherently. Then she started to kick around, causing a lot of noise. Everyone else woke up. They shook her until she awoke. Sango was trembling in fear/shock, just like when Gohaku had spoken to her.
"Sango, daijoubu ka?" Shippo asked in that innocent voice.
"Yeah, I just had a bad dream."
"Sango, you know we're here if you need us."
"Thanks. I think now is the time I need to have friends like you the most.
One by one, the others drifted off to sleep, except for Miroku. He was still worried about Sango. He wished he could comfort her, but there wasn't anything he could do. He looked at Sango, the beautiful demon exterminator. Slowly, he began thinking of her as more than a possible carrier of his future child (that's still kind of iffy) and wondered if anything could happen between them; maybe she felt the same way.
Sango's dream:
"Miroku-san! Hurry! Yume is learning to walk!" Sango yelled to her husband.
"Really?" Miroku asked, running toward their small house near the village. They walked inside and watched as Yume (dream); their 1-year old daughter started half-crawling, half-walking to them. Sango smiled at the amazed look on Miroku's face. She wished this moment would last forever.
Sango woke up to see the same image as in her dream: a smiling Miroku. She quietly scrambled toward him and asked him if they could go outside and talk. As soon as they exited the hut, Miroku noticed a youkai coming near them. He ran to tell the others. 'Maybe he's not ready to know yet, but I'll tell him someday.'
A/N: What do you think? This is a one-shot, but if I get enough requests, I might write a sequel. I know I don't have the time to write one-shots if I have unfinished chapter stories. Well, I'll post one more chapter of High School Catastrophe, and then you'll have to wait a week since I'm going to Camp Arrowhead (week-long school field trip 12/9-13). Sorry! *Sarah*
