Promised Darkness

He lay on his bed, desperately crying out
To anybody, "Please, oh please, don't let me doubt
Everytbing I have believed in all of my life."
Yet nobody answers to him, and like a knife
Through his gut, he knew that nobody will ever
Answer to him anyway. He will forever
Be lied to. Deceived. Like a pawn in a chess game,
He would be expendable. And all of his "fame"
Could never stop Destiny from playing with him,
His destiny had showed him a future so dim.
It was a wonder that he didn't predict it.
Yet maybe he only sees things as he sees fit.
And so now he will pay for his narrow-mindness
And prepare for a future that promised darkness.
