Dreams of Scully
By: Olivia
"The skeptic does not mean him who doubts, but him who investigates or researches, as opposed to him who asserts and thinks that he has found."-Miguel De Unamuno- "My Religion"
"Great is Truth, and mighty above all things."-Apocrypha 1 Esdras 4:41
At first, all was blackness, littered with stars. Then Scully stepped forward, surrounded by the tiny pinpricks of light.
"In the end, it didn't matter. All that mattered was finding you. If it meant I had to believe, so be it. I believe that you will be returned to me just as I was once returned to you. And when my cancer threatened to consume me, you did not let me succumbed to the darkness. You brought me back and I continued on our journey together towards the truth, which binds us irrevocably. I know you will not let me travel alone. Your words and deeds have saved me just as my words and deeds will save you. A year ago I pleaded with you to hold on and not to leave me alone. All I needed was time to save you. Give me time. I know the ropes are taut and threatening to split setting you adrift. Hold on, Mulder. Hold on. I fear that the dark, Oregon sky may have consumed you and that I may be to late."
Scully vanished.
Mulder lay flat on a cold, metal surface. He could not move. His arms and feet were restrained. The pain refused to leave him alone. He tried to open his eyes, but the white light was harsh and unyielding. Mulder shut his eyes against reality. It was better to keep his eyes closed and dream of Scully.
