Chapter 1
Karien is pronounced as car-ee-en.
It was early, bright dawn and the sun's rays where just stretching out over the green fields where Karien was slumped down, sleeping peacefully. The soft rays grew stronger and grew in strength as the roosters crowed their welcome. One eyelid fluttered open, then the other, revealing pale green eyes. She slowly got up her braided hair tumbling down. She mumbled something and she got on her horse, Wings and galloped away. The wind whipped across her pale face and it soothed her knowing that she was going somewhere.. somewhere, at least somewhere. With a sudden jolt, Wings abruptly halted. She was hurtled down towards the floor, where she landed with a soft thud. Karien swore under her breath and dusted the mud of her clothes. Nearby, a grey wizard was observing her, with intense eyes. He slowly walked up to her and asked, "Do you want advice young lady?" Karien looked at the old man with questioning eyes. "Follow me." He started walking toward the forest that was ahead of them. Karien regained her senses and followed him, leading Wings into the deep forest.
