As the firsts reviews(Thank you!!!)pointed the fact that the family tree was unclear, I followed Vesca's suggestion and made this second chapter. It includes the original author's notes and explanations about the characters appearing in the story and their relations to Saitoh. Thank you again for reviewing in a constructive way and for the nice comments!
AUTHOR'S NOTES:
SORRYYYYYYY! I know it's terribly mushy, mushy, mushy!
I usually only write comedy or romance, yet lately this story was so in my mind that I couldn't help writing it. As it is my first drama, and probably my last (if I get over my late blue mood), please don't be too harsh on me.
I began to think of this story after I read a book saying that Saitoh Hajime died from a stomach ulcer (it seems that in real life he never stopped drinking - I love that guy), but sitting in seiza ( Japanese sitting way for formal occasions) in the traditional guest room (-**** computer wants to write it took!!!-TOKO no ma) of his house. Very stoic. Saitoh really died in 1916, I forgot when Tokio died, probably not two days before so.
I'm conscious that the fact that almost all the characters' children got married between them or some people we know is too much (yet I have examples of that), but I couldn't help!!! Kick me I'm the matchmaker from hell!(just joking) By the way I haven't watched the anime for a while so I don't remember which one was the oldest: I think Ayame is the big sister and Suzume the little, but..I tried to imagine them adult based on their attitude in the anime. I tried to stick the most I could to the manga/anime history. Yet the only character I don't like in the whole thing is Tsubame she is such a boring crybaby and has nothing original. So Yahiko has a new wife. I haven't decided what's her name or her temper but just trust Tokio! For A/M and S/M, they don't appear because I wanted to stay focused on Saitoh's relation to his children and not having him interact with people of his "generation" (you know Misao, she would have stopped by to talk to him, and I would have been screwed). I named A/M daughter Yukari, because it is one of the readings of the kanji in Aoshi.
Finally, about the flashback, I only read the manga in Japanese so I have no idea of the actual translation of Saitoh's words during his fight with Kenshin at Kamiya Dojo. The memories he has of Tokio are all taken from my other fics, as I already said I have quite a personal and complete vision of S/T story, so I wrote it this way. Sorry if it's bothering but I don't think it's that much a problem, they can be taken just as random memories.
Otosama: father Hatachi: 20 years-old, Gumi: group, team, squad
The author's notes being quite revealing they are at the end this time. Sorry for making them so long, but this story has been bugging me so much that I couldn't think of anything else. I needed to get rid totally of it, so I can focus on other things like my real job (and God I'm busy).

FAMILY TREES:
*Saitoh's family
In real life, Fujita Goro (Saitoh Hajime) and Tokio had three sons (Tsutomu, Tsuyoshi and Tatsuo). I included this fact. In the manga, after the first confrontation with Shishio, Saitoh takes Mijima Eiji to his wife, and as most of the authors, I assumed that the boy lived with them from that on. I made up the children's pairings.
Mijima Eiji married Ayame, the eldest granddaughter of doctor Genzai (they have two daughters)
Tsutomu married Suzume, the little sister of Ayame. They have a son, Soushi ( named after Okita) who is 20 and a daughter, Yuri (lily) who is 17.
Tsuyoshi married Misao&Aoshi's daughter Yukari (OC). (their kids don't appear here)
Tatsuo married an OC, Akiko. (In Japan it was at least until 1945 possible for couples with only daughters to adopt their sons in law, so their name wouldn't disappear). They have at least one son, Goro.
*Kenshin-gumi's children
According to Watsuki, Tsubame and Yahiko had a son, Shinya. Kenshin and Kaoru have of course a son, Kenji. The rest is the result of my twisted mind:
Shinomori Aoshi and Misao have 2 children: Yukari (Tsuyoshi's wife) and Akira. Both are OC.
Sagara Sano and Megumi have two children: Hanae (who I paired with Kenji), and Sozo (name after Sagara Taicho, of course). OC again
To achieve that complicated picture, I liked the idea that the characters of Rurouni Kenshin finally get to know Saitoh's family and that their kids grew up more or less together, hence Saitoh's grandson Soushi friendship with Akira and Sozo respectively sons of Aoshi and Sano.
