Rapunziel gazed down to the ground below her. A golden lock fell out the
window and she watched it spiral down to the ground. She sighed softly,
tears welling up in her beautiful blue eyes. The tear fell against the
ground with a soft plunk. It had been days, or even weeks since she had
seen her beloved Prince. He promised to come back the next day. Yet she had
only seen the witch, wandering about below, gathering herbs and god-knows-
what. Rapunziel sighed, how she loathed that woman. Protecting her from the
world was one thing, keeping her for the witch's amusement and pleasure was
another.
Her thoughts were abruptly broken by, "Rapunziel, Rapunziel, let down your hair. So I may climb the golden stair!"
Rapunziel rolled her eyes, Oh god, she had to make it rhyme too, didn't she? But doing as she was told, she lowered her weighty hair down to the old witch. She could feel the tugs and pulls as the witch heaved herself up the stone tower and into tower.
"Thank you, dear. You're such a sweetie to this old woman," chuckled the witch as she shuffled to the door, unlocked it, exited and locked it again.
"Easy enough when the old woman's a hag that feeds you," she muttered irritably, pulling her hair up again to rest beside her. Rapunziel looked about the room. The old witch usually dropped something of interest on the floor. This day, she dropped a small crystal in a shape of a heart on the floor. Cautiously, she picked it up. The crystal flashed a pink color and started to make shapes. The shapes became more visible...and...There was her Prince! He was riding on his white steed. How handsome he was. Rapunziel's heart ached so much to see him once again. As she continued to look, she could see a castle. Must be his, she thought to herself. But as she continued to watch, she saw him dismount his horse and creep inside. He was greeted by another woman, one with hair as black as night, lips as red as blood. They kissed. Rapunziel's were soon hot with tears. She flung the crystal to the ground and it shattered to pieces. Her heart ached so much now from the pain of betrayal. Vision blurred, she tied her hair in a knot around the foot of her bed. With a letter opener, she started to hack and cut at her hair, at the base of it, just under her neck. With the extra hair, she started to make a crude noose. Hands wobbling with complete sadness, she put the hair-noose 'round her neck and walked to the window. She looked down at the ground she had memorized from above. Looking out to the horizon, she saw her Prince, galloping up on his horse. Biting her lip, she jumped out of the windowsill. The hair quickly unraveled from a pile on the floor to a tight line. Rapunziel's neck snapped as she fell, tears still went on her cheeks.
"NO!" cried her Prince as he had seen what she had done. Automatically, he assumed that it was the witch's doing. He sighed, shaking his head. He turned his horse and trotted back to his castle as the witch shrieked at this discovery of the sweet Rapunziel hung.
"Damn you, Prince of Love and lost!" She screamed out the window. She cut the noose to Rapunziel and let her corpse fall to the ground. "Stay with your Prince, you stupid girl," she muttered. Rapunziel's body fell to the ground in a graceful heap. And the Prince and his whore had three STD ridden children. While the witch died in the tower, for cutting Rapunziel down was her folly to never getting out of the tower.
