Disclaimer: I don't own a thing! J.K. Rowling owns the characters, and Bing
Crosby owns the song. (I think!)
A/N: This song came on when I was reading fanfiction, and I thought it
would make a cute story!
"Checkmate! Aha! Thats twelve times in a row Potter! C'mon, pay up!" Said Lily grinning from ear to ear. Scowling, James reached into his robes and pulled out five galleons and shoved them roughly into her outstretched hands.
It was Christmas and the tower was nearly empty, having mostly everyone gone home. A fire was crackling merrily in the grate and Lily and James were sprawled out in front of it, deeply emersed in a series of crititcal chess matches.
Lily had enchanted her muggle record player, and light Christmas songs floated in the background.
One extrememly large Christmas tree had been beautifuly decorated with hundreds or ornaments and live faries. Garland had been strung on nearly every banister, and candles were placed on the mantle above the fire.
Sirius had gone home to spend his Christmas with his five year old sister, who was currently staying with a relative.
Peter was upstairs reading something or another.
Remus had gone to sleep early, the past week having worn him out, so Lily and James had the entire common room to themselves. After having Lily beat him in nearly every game imaginable (including muggle games) James gave up and let his head hit the cusion next to Lily's laughing.
They both lay there for a while, each lost in their own thoughts. Then James jumped up suddenly and pulled Lily to her feet. She looked at him as though he was crazy, and James really didn't blame her.
"Dance with me." He said, his brown eyes twinkling mischeviously. Lily laughed and agreed. The muggle song quietly played as a man with a deep voice started to sing and Lily rested one hand on his shoulder and the other one into James's. He lay one hand on her waist and started to revolve them in a circle.
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Ev'rywhere you go;
Take a look in the five-and-ten, glistening once again
With candy canes and silver lanes aglow.
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas,
Toys in ev'ry store,
But the prettiest sight to see is the holly that will be
On your own front door.
A pair of hopalong boots and a pistol that shoots
Is the wish of Barney and Ben; Dolls that will talk and will go for a walk
Is the hope of Janice and Jen;
And Mom and Dad can hardly wait for school to start again.
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Ev'rywhere you go;
There's a tree in the Grand Hotel, one in the park as well,
The sturdy kind that doesn't mind the snow.
It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas;
Soon the bells will start,
And the thing that will make them ring is the carol that you sing
Right within your heart.
The song ended but James continued to lead them. They had somehow had moved closer together and Lily's head rested on his chest. "Lils?" "Mhm?" Lily asked suddenly sleepy. "Look up." Said James nodding upwards. Lily looked up; a string of mistletoe hung down directly above them. She looked back at James who blushed. "Well?" They leaned in and shared their very first kiss.
Cheering erupted and they looked up startled. Remus and Peter were at the top of the stairs clapping and whooping and started to prance around in circles. Lily and James blushed and ran after them. ( Remus-Oh sh**!)
Fin~Merry Christmas!
A/N: Tell me what you think! I know its not that good, but please review anyway. I didn't really find a great song for this, but it sounded really cool when it came on my computer. I just love Bing Crosby's voice!
