Innocence Reflecting Evil
By:CursedSoul
Vivi Oruntia wandered through the crowded streets of Lindblum, lonely and curious. All the children ran from him, and the adults sneered at him. Vivi always thought he was a normal little boy. Vivi walked into a bar and ordred some milk, the man gave it to him and disrespectfully yet fearfully threw the glass at him.
"Here, fresh, now take it and go, I have a family." Vivi was so confused. Is that why everyone was so mean to him? Because he didn't have a family? Vivi remembered his grandfather and sadly hung his head down. He USED to have a family. Vivi tottled out of the bar, and in his trance-like state of pondering about family, he didn't trip once.
As he walked back onto the cobblestone road, a sudden shout startled him.
"There it is! The one I told you about! It's gonna burn our houses and slaughter our families!" Vivi didn't realize they were talking to him, but as the mob started advancing on him, he grew scared. What had he done? Should he had not taken the milk? Did they think the reason he had no family with him was because he had killed them?
As the angry group grew dangerously close, Vivi sat down and made his body into a ball, waiting for the hits to come. Nothing happened, though. Vivi looked up to see a female red mage with a pointy red hat and flowing cape. Complete with red high heeled shoes. She was standing between Vivi and certain death.
She turned around and quickly grabbed Vivi, jumping deftly onto a roof. Vivi's hat almost flew off due to the fast motion. He found himself in the woman's arms, being jumped from roof to roof. Finally, they landed in a dark alley, safe from the angry villagers. Vivi cowered into the woman's cape, shaking horribly.
"Calm down little one, you're safe now, I won't let them hurt you." Vivi's tears soaked her cape.
"But, but, w-why do they hate me so much, w-what did I do?" He asked, pure innocence and nothing but in his voice.
"It's not you, it's others like you, you'll understand soon enough. Your eyes are innocent, yet they reflect evil as well. They stand for everything those villagers have been scared of. They represent pain, hunger, murder, rape. Everything horrible in Gaea. Your eyes are so innocent, yet they still retain their premature purpose.
"Through your life, this will present great challenges to you, but you will overcome them splendidly. You are a sweet boy, I know you are, never lose that. even when people are absoulutely unbearable don't yell and don't take agressive action. Ignore them. They will understand your true worth in time."
Vivi stared at her, her words sinking in slowly. Yet he still didn't understand, his eyes? They can't possibly mean that much to people, can they? seeing his confusion, the woman hastily added: " I told you, you will understand in time, but not now, for now, remember my words, find their meaning later."
Vivi nodded, noting her words as well her face, in case he ever saw her again. He remembered the perfect curve of her cheeks, the golden blond hair shining like angel light in the sun. And he remembered, as well, her eyes. Especially her eyes. They shone like her hair, and held more meaning than anything on the rest of her face. They wewre golden eyes, just like his.
