Disclaimer: I stake no claims to Gundam Wing or Sailor Moon.
This is my first shot at fan fiction so please go easily on me! The couple is open to interpretation.

Smoking debris scattered over barren ground as the broken framework of a residential complex stuck jaggedly up into the frigid winter air. A light, gray smog floated high above, smooth and calm as it began to snow.
She watched him near his destination, golden wildflower, innocent and a recollection of past sunshine clutched in one frozen hand. She gazed dispassionately as his hand tightened around the stem, arm trembling with suppressed emotion. His legs gave way under him as a hand hovered over the broken form of a puppy on the ground.
Raging, uncontrollable fire had long since given way to the aloof icy blue, and her gaze traveled across charred remains of an apartment, ashes rendering its façade far more forlorn than it should be.
Her inaudible steps took her to him, and the heart she had long since forgotten throbbed with his in pain and bewilderment.
Wavering orbs gazed at his still form as despair suffocated her and it became hard to draw in air. She had followed him since forever, tracing his steps and trailing him to the dark abyss of space and had marveled at the cruelty borne of love. Cruelty towards his foes, towards his friends, towards himself. And love … love of a world that used him and tossed him aside. Love of an idea that left him out of its comforting embrace. And love of the rest of humanity that had everything he did not.
Scooping the limp puppy up, he stood up again, standing alone as snow turned his surroundings a wintry white.
Her heart reached out towards him.
She kissed him softly on the forehead and a soft bruise formed
Her fingers brushed past his arm and a cut sliced through smooth skin.
She grasped his hands and stained them scarlet.
Her insides froze, but a wistful smile touched her lips. She knew she loved him at that earth-shattering moment.
He walked on, unmindful to the nipping of the wind on his bare arms and legs, unaware of the dark seraph that pursued him.
Her eyes followed his lonely form as she smiled gently.
