Hermione thought she had everything. Outstanding grades, outstanding friends and she had been elected as Head Girl. Little did she know that her 7th year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry was going to be the time to remember.
As Hermione boarded the Hogwarts Express she gave a final farewell wave to the Weasleys, who had brought her there since her parents were on a vacation, traveling around the world. She headed to the compartment where Harry and Ron were waiting for her.
"I really like what you did to your hair Hermione." Lavendar Brown said from her compartment as she saw Hermione slowly pass the doorway. Hermione turned before walking into the one across from theirs.
"Thank you Lavendar." she smiled. Hermione loved her hair now. For her 17th birthday, Harry had gotten her an appointment at the magical hair salon in Diagon Alley. They magically straightened it and curled the ends. It was always like that now. Smooth and shiney. No longer bushy and out of control. She walked into the compartment and saw Harry and Ron playing Chess.
"Checkmate." said Ron. Hermione suppressed a smile.
"Have you ever beat him before Harry?" Hermione asked, sitting down o a seat.
"I will...I will." he said as the board set-up for a new game. Hermione took out her Head Girl badge. No sooner had she done so, the compartment door slid open. Two very over-sized boys were standing behind one perfectly fit boy. Hermione scowled as Draco Malfoy came in, followed by Crabbe and Goyle. On Malfoy was badge reading "Head Boy". Hermione sighed. Having to work with him wasn't her favorite thing to do. Draco saw Hermione's badge and smirked.
"Just as I thought. They decided you, a mudblood, should be head girl. Dumbledore most definetly is off his rocker." laughed Draco.
"I'm surprised they made you head boy. Oh wait, your dad probably threatened Dumbledore just like always. Lets see, you got on the Quidditch team because your father is a prick, you were made a prefect because your dad is a prick, and the only reason your not suspended is because your dad is a prick." Hermione said. Harry and Ron sniggered and Hermione smiled innocently.
"Watch your back Granger." Malfoy said in a threatening tone before leaving. Hermione rolled her eyes. They went back to what they were doing, Hermione studying and the boys played chess. The train ride was rather uneventful. They talked to a few people who stopped by to say hi. Hermione had several compliments on her hair. Even some of the guys were looking at her in a different way now. As the train neared the school Hermione changed into her robes and as the train stopped she climbed into a horseless carriage with Harry and Ron...the school year began.
