Chapter 1
Hamtaro sat in his cage waiting for Laura to get home. He knew today was going to be different. Today before Laura had left for school Hamtaro had sneaked to the clubhouse. When he got there he found Boss talking to Maxwell. He went up tot hem and said, " Hey! What are you two doing?" Boss's determined face quickly turned into a subtle and mean frown. "Why in the world would I tell you?" Boss said in an ignorant manner. Hamtaro quickly started to scurry away. He knew Boss was mad. By the looks of it Hamtaro guessed Boss was mad at him. The only thing he couldn't figure out was "Why"? Hamtaro had never done anything to him. Quite frankly, Hamtaro thought very highly of Boss.
When Hamtaro reached the doorway Bijou was there blocking his way. She said, "Hamtaro there is something I have been wanting to tell you. I like you a lot." Hamtaro was so dumbfounded, that he suddenly fell backwards almost as if a giant boulder had come crashing down on him. He then quickly stumbled back onto his feet. He had never even imagined Bijou liked him. Maybe he dreamed this in a fantasy but never in reality. Of course Hamtaro felt the same way but how as he supposed to admit that to her??? "Boss is mad at you because he knows my secret." Bijou stated timidly. "What does it matter if he knows? Isn't this our business?" asked Hamtaro. "He loves me! Can't you understand that he loves me?! He used to think I loved him too, but when he learned of my love for you he flew into an angry rage!" cried Bijou, "I wish he wouldn't stand in my way and keep his tail in his own life!" Hamtaro comforted Bijou and thought to himself, 'So that is why Boss seemed so angry.' He gave Bijou a big hug and explained to her that he had to get home before Laura left for school.
So that brought him to now. Suddenly, as he finished thinking of his day Laura ran into her room. She threw her backpack against the wall with such force that Hamtaro's cage almost flipped over. Then Laura leaped onto her bed and started sobbing. Hamtaro was really worried. 'What is wrong with Laura?? How can I make her feel better??' Hamtaro kept thinking, 'What is wrong???'
