Sephiroth felt a headache beginning to build, but he refused to give in. Using all of his willpower he kept his expression stern as he stared into the deep purple eyes of the black chocobo he stole from a nearby far.
"You will let me on," he said firmly.
The bird warked defiantly.
Sephiroth! Jenova screeched in his mind. Enough with that damn bird! Just kill it and move on. We don't have time to waste!
I refuse to be beaten by a dumb bird, Mother! Sephiroth replied. How am I supposed to take over the world if I can't tame one brainless animal?
As if sensing the ex-General's thoughts the bird pecked his arm…hard.
"ITE!!" Sephiroth's mask was shattered and he rubbed his sore arm, glaring angrily at the entirely too self-satisfied chocobo.
"Enough of this," he muttered furiously, and whipped out his Masamune, holding it to the bird's neck. "Let me on or I shall release your head from your neck!"
The bird warked and bashed the Masamune with its beak; as Sephiroth gaped at its audacity it took the chance to back quickly away from harm's way, although it did not run away.
Sephiroth… Jenova said warning. He paid her no mind, still gawking at the bird.
"You audacious little bastard," he breathed.
The chocobo warked, sounding almost proud, and began to preen daintily.
The absurdity of it all suddenly hit Sephiroth with the force of a tsunami, and he started to laugh.
Sephiroth! Jenova screeched. Have you lost your mind? LISTEN TO ME!!
Sephiroth continued to ignore her, walking forward slowly, still chuckling, and gently stroking the bird's head.
"I see that this is one battle of wills I will not win," he said, then, with exaggerated politeness, he said, "May I please get on you?"
The chocobo warked imperiously and knelt down to let the ex-General board. Shaking his head, Sephiroth swung onto the bird's back.
Still with exaggerated politeness, he continued, "And will you please take me to Junon?"
The bird paused for a moment as if thinking the request over, then warked in agreement and took off. The chocobo's cocky, precocious manner set Sephiroth into another laughing fit, and he was distantly aware of Jenova hmphing in irritation in the back of his mind.
This is going to be a long journey, she grumbled.
