Author's note:
Ok, my second attempt at a story…this should be more action packed. This is not a chapter, but an introduction (as I should hope to have in all future stories as well). This is set in the same world as the first one, and the ending parts of the first one (or, the way it would have ended) will be mentioned in this, to give the world some flavor. Spells may not be right, but my player's handbook is with friends in another state, so they are my own rendering of what I remember and know from other fantasy games (EQ, Icewind dale, etc.). OK, enough babble, now on with the show!
But first the disclaimer: All dungeons and dragons characters, creatures, character names, creature names, and the likeness thereof are trademarks owned by Wizards of the Coast, Inc. Hmm, that should cover it, heh.

TwangAn arrow flew from the bushes at a boar quietly having his lunch. It barely pierced the boar's flesh and landed on the soft forest ground. The boar turned around and saw nothing but trees and small shrubs. It sniffed the air, and then went back to eating.
ClickA crossbow bolt flew out of another bush and hit the boar squarely in the shoulder. The boar heard the source of the shot and charged the bush, as another arrow flew at it. A small, stout form in studded leather jumped out to meat the attacker, with a large axe raised to meet it. The boar stuck its tusks deep within the dwarf's side, and the dwarf fell back onto the ground.
A thin, pointed ear creature ran at the boar with burning hands and an insane look on his face. Another arrow flew at the boar from a bush, which missed and nearly hit the dwarf. Another small, stocky character came out of the bushes and threw a couple of glowing stones at the boar.
The boar just stood there as the elf touched it with his burning hands and another arrow landed in its side. Strangely, the boar started laughing. Slowly it changed form from a normal boar into a young looking human. He bent down and helped the dwarf up. The human spoke a few words and touched the dwarf's wound, which instantly disappeared.
"Morant, have we really gotten better?" the elf asked, his face still with the crazed expression.
The man replied, almost in stitches, "you will…eventually".

Author's note:
Yes, very shot indeed…however its only an introduction and it provides all you need to know about these guys, the misfits. Hopefully this will work well, but you never know what will happen…
Just for some info (in case you didn't figure it out from that obscure description I call a battle), there are two dwarves, one is a fighter, and the other is a cleric. The human is a ranger (the one that only shot arrows, Mr. Not appearing in this introduction) and the elf is a wizard, yes he is also crazy, but it should make for an interesting character…
Gee, I think the side notes are longer than the introduction!
