Author: SarahMc - catwoman@merseymail.com

Genre: Parody

Disclaimer: Les Mis is the property of Victor Hugo and

probably Boubil and Schoenberg. "I am the very model..."

was written by Gilbert and Sullivan.

Summary: Sarah attempts filk. Run! Run away!

I'd like to say that this is based on various aspects of

Les Miserables fandom but embarrassingly it's almost all me

(though it was partly inspired by Le Cafe). This is the

product of a sleepless night and a brand new recording of

The Pirates of Penzance.

*****

I am the very model of a fan of Hugo's masterpiece

In English, Spanish, German, French and maybe even Japanese

I'd recognise the characters or story any time of day

Appreciate the difference 'tween the book or horrid film or play

I've seen the show a dozen times; I've read the book a dozen more

So if you claim that you know more than I you will be shown the door

I was the first to realise each slashy possibility

And no one better understands the character we know as G__

I regularly analyse that lovely Gallic imag'rey

And post my dull opinions on a message board for all to see

In short, my great ability (ability to bore, at least)

Makes me the very model of a fan of Hugo's masterpiece!

I know of Hugo's history - I share his views political

Keep Enjolras and R in mind when waxing analytical

I see the practicality of acting like poor Eponine

But know that it's too newbie-ish to like her - you know what I mean?

I can't decide if Marius is heroic or just a dolt

Or if I should choose Michael Ball or join the Peter Lockyer cult

I've read the book so many times and really, truly, so should you

I even forced my self to like that ghastly nonsense "Waterloo"!

Then I can list the many uses of two pistols in the dark

And recollect from memory the address of that famous park

In short for this one reason (and there's plenty more to come of these)

I am the very model of a fan of Hugo's masterpiece!

In fact when I know what is meant by "barricade" and "benedict"

When I can tell at sight apart the River Seine from Candlesticks

When understanding Javert's motives finally I'm more wary at

And I appreciate Valjean's use of the word "proletariat"

When I see why it's wrong, in fanfic, to show Cosette on the phone

And when at last I figure out why ev'ryone loves "On my Own"

As soon as I know ev'rything a mizzie possibly could know

You'll say I deserve tickets to that final closing Broadway show!

I have no secret problems, no I haven't got a thing to hide

How dare you even hint I may need that pronunciation guide?

From Eh-Po-Nine to Sean Valsean - I can pronounce the lot of these

I am the very model fan of Victor Hugo's masterpiece!
