Never Alone
A little Ginny/Cho ficlet by Comet-hime
Author's notey disclaimer thing: As usually, none of the characters in this story are mine. They belong to the goddess that is J.K. Rowling. This was written on a whim during Christmas 2002 after reading a myriad of similar fics. Ginny/Cho rocks!
The sun shone brightly through the trees that day, patches of light falling upon two pale faces hiding from the world that they knew. It was their special place, where they went when they simply needed to be alone together. It made it easier to keep the issue of 'them' a secret.
Slowly, the redheaded girl turned her head to look at her gorgeous Chinese companion. She'd asked this question far too many times already, but she had to hear the answer again, just to hear it.
"Did you really love him, Cho?"
The young woman sighed, her gray eyes shifting to meet eager brown. "I don't think I'll ever know, Ginny."
"Why?" her lover pleaded, as if her entire existence rested on what she had to say.
She closed her eyes. "He loved me more than anything, Gin, I know that much. He loved me so much he would have fetched me the moon if I asked him to." A single tear slid down her snow white cheek, remaining there while no hand rose to wipe it away. "All I know is that he was my best friend. He knew me better than anyone ever will, besides you maybe. I could have fallen in love with him, but.you know how I feel towards guys. I just wasn't meant for them."
Despite the sadness showing on her secret desire's delicate features, a smile spread across her tanned lips and her locks shown as fire as Ginny Weasley moved to hold Cho Chang in her arms.
A sob escaped the seeker's lips and she buried her face in the younger girl's shoulder. "I feel so alone."
Ginny kissed Cho's forehead and rocked her gently, humming their song softly against the breeze. Her love would need more time to heal, she knew that, and until then all she could do was be there for her. Always be there, waiting for the day her Chinese beauty would realize that in her embrace she would never be alone again.
