Minor Chloe/Clark
Summary: It's Chloe's birthday and Clark thinks he has the perfect gift.
"It's my birthday; yes it is.it's my birthday, hey!" Chloe sang to herself as she climbed into her car and headed home from a long afternoon at the Torch. She had just stuck her keys in her car when a tap at the glass next to her startled her. She looked up to she Clark grinning down at her.
"Can I help you?" She asked once she had rolled down the window.
"Let me in. I want to give you your present."
Chloe reached over and unlocked the side door for him and he ran around and slid in. "You know, this could have waited until we all went out to a movie tonight." Chloe said as Clark produced a two-toned purple present bag laden with enough tissue paper to fill Noah's Arc, which Chloe felt compelled to tell Clark. "You do realize you could cover the length of a few third world countries with all this paper, right?" Chloe grinned.
"My mom wrapped it and made it pretty.that's not my thing."
"Right. I understand. Tell your mom I appreciate that."
"Sure. Now open it!!" Clark said, practically bouncing up and down.
"If I can make it through all this 'pretty stuff', I will!" Chloe chided him, diving into the bag.
She sifted through the glittery paper and unearthed a white box tired with silver ribbon.
"Looks like jewelry," Chloe said, shaking the box gently. "Ok, chill farm boy. I'm opening it!" Chloe said as Clark glared at her. Chloe fought with the ribbon for a minute, then grabbed a hairclip off her car floor and used it to rip through it. Chloe grinned as she opened the box and found a Native-American style bracelet lying in the box.
"Wow, Clark," Chloe breathed, picking it up. "This is beautiful!" Chloe said, sliding it on her wrist. "Did you pick this out?" She asked, admiring the turquoise and gold.
"You remember Kyla and her dad Joseph, right?" Clark asked, grinning at Chloe's obvious joy.
"Yeah, I remember." Chloe replied, looking up a Clark quizzically.
"Joseph gave this to me when I helped out with the caves. He told me this was for the true one in my life." Clark said slowly.
"Clark, this isn't right, you can't." Chloe muttered, getting chocked up as she fumbled with the bracelet.
"Chloe, wait," He said, grabbing her arm. She looked up at him, tears in her eyes. "Chloe, you are the truest person I know." Chloe stared at Clark. "Ok, that didn't come out the way I wanted it too." Clark sighed, causing Chloe to smile.
"You're always true and real, Chloe. I know high school is all about finding yourself and trying to come into your own, and it's like you've been above all of this high school.stuff forever." Clark said, willing Chloe to understand. She nodded slowly.
"You always search for the truth, even when it's not the popular opinion or even if it's dangerous.I admire that about you, Chloe. You really are the true one among all this.shit." Clark said, sighing as he found the word he was looking for.
"Thank you, Clark. This means more than you will ever know!" Chloe said, leaning over to hug Clark.
"Happy birthday," He said into her hair, causing her to grin against his shoulder as they embraced.
