Heat Wave

Spoilers for 'Heat'

Lex/Lana

Rated PG

Summary: Where would Lana be if she hadn't met Clark in the Talon the night the heat wave broke?

Side note: This is A/U, guys. Didn't really happen. But it should have.

Lana smiled as she gazed at her parent's tombstone, then knelt down and placed a flower by their names.

"Hi Mom, Hi Dad," She started, feeling the hair that had escaped her ponytail stick to her neck due to the humidity in the air. "I need some advice." Lana said to the tombstone.

"Maybe if they can't help you out, I can." A male voice said from the shadows.

"Lex?" Lana asked as Lex stepped into her line of view. "What are you doing in a graveyard in the middle of the night?" She asked, standing up as he walked towards her.

"Jogging."

"Why? Don't you have a gym in the mansion?"

"I do. I just.wanted to get out."

"I shouldn't question you. At least you're not talking to dead people. Sorry," Lana said, looking down.

"It's fine. It's so hot that I wanted to run with my shirt of, and the burns from the accident in my office this week are pretty bad. I just felt a little self-conscience." Lex said matter-of-factly.

"Turn, let me see." Lana said; her voice full of compassion.

Lex opened his mouth to protest, but when he saw the sincerity in Lana's eyes, he closed his mouth and turned around, revealing his second degree burns to her.

"Lex," Lana said in a hushed tone as she ran her hand over his scars. He shivered under her touch. "I'm sorry!" She gasped. "Did I hurt you?" She asked.

"No," Lex said, turning to face her. "Not at all," He replied quietly.

"The heat of passion can burn," She said philosophically.

"It can." Lex said, bending down against his own will. He wanted to kiss her. He wanted to kiss her more than anything. His mind was screaming at him, but his heart had control. He brought his lips closer to her, but as she began to lean forward, a drop of rain fell from the sky, followed by another and another until it became a downpour seconds later.

"Looks like the heat wave is broken," Lana said as Lex pulled himself away.

"Broken," Lex replied, the moment between them broken as well.
