A/N: I decided to add another chapter as I enjoyed writing the first one.
The company had been walking all day and were very tired, especially the hobbits who kept falling over. They found a nice clearing and decided to set up camp. It was their first night of their quest and they were all tired and grumpy.
To set up camp, Gandalf had assigned them each jobs, the majority turned out to be disasters. He let Frodo rest, with Sam keeping a close watch over him. He sent Merry and Pippin to gather water, and he put Legolas and Gimli in charge of making a fire and cooking food, he thought this to be a very clever idea as it would get them working as a team and would bring them together. He soon realised how wrong he was.
"I will find some firewood whilst you prepare some food, Master elf" Gimli told Legolas.
Legolas, who had been polishing his bow threw it down and gave Gimli an angry look. He was still mad at the dwarf for messing up his hair. Without saying a word to the dwarf Legolas scrounged around in the nearest pack for some food. He caste another angry look in Gimlis direction then started preparing the food that he had found.
Over the other side of the clearing Gandalf had asked Aragorn and Boromir to find some logs to use as benches to sit on. They both went and looked for the biggest logs they could find and tried to pick it up. They strained and flexed their muscles at each other as they tried to heave the logs up to their shoulders.
"The little ones will be able to sleep soundly tonight, knowing I'm around," Boromir stated as he placed his log down in the middle of the clearing.
"If any orcs came within a five league radius of this campsite I would have their heads before they even knew what hit them," Boromir added.
Aragorn raised an interested eyebrow at this remark. " How would you know if they came within a five league radius? That is a fair way," Aragorn questioned.
Boromir looked blank for a moment them answered, "Good question, but if I told you I'm afraid I would have to kill you."
Aragorn hardly satisfied with his slack answer shrugged it off.
"I bet Gandalf is very relieved he brought me along," Aragorn boasted. "I saved his life once you know, but don't ask him about it, he doesn't like to talk about it," Aragorn said quietly to Boromir.
Boromir opened his mouth to say something but was cut short by a squeal from Legolas.
Boromir and Aragorn quickly whipped out their swords and ran to where Legolas was standing, looking very shaken up.
"What is it Prince Elve?" Aragorn asked
"Orcs? Uruk-Hai? Goblins? A cave troll? Ringwraiths?" Boromir asked as he whirled his sword around, dropped it, then quickly picked it stealing a glance at Aragorn to make sure he hadn't seen.
"No, no," Legolas sobbed, "I cut my finger with this knife as I was chopping up the food."
Boromir quickly snatched up the knife.
"He has been stabbed by a morgul blade, " he stated dramatically, dropping the knife and jumping a meter back.
"A servant of the dark lord has replaced our cooking utensils with deadly instruments of destruction," Boromir yelled with a pained look on his fair face.
Aragorn bent over and looked at the knife. He picked it up and studied it closely for about twenty minutes.
"No Boromir, this is a butter knife," he said.
"I knew that," Boromir snapped, "I was just, uh, testing you." He smirked.
A/N: Well that's enough for now, but what will happen next? Will Sam let Frodo rest? Will Merry and Pippin successfully find some water? Will they get revenge on Boromir for putting them in a sac? Will Legolas get revenge on Gimli for messing up his hair? And how will he cope with a cut on his finger? Find out next chapter, but only if you review!!!
