You shed your vile exterior as paint clots your hair

A myriad of purple and cerise; the jade on your cheek

matches slivers of emerald in your eyes.

I smile, the glum twitch of my lips blossoming into a grin as you lean close,

pressing me against the rough hay bales, but I am oblivious

To their coarse embrace

And as our fingers entwine and our tongues dance,

I abandon my former suspicion about your shady past

Or vindictive motives.

The sun is warm, your lips are sweet, and as I am covered

in colourful smears of synthetics

I may as well enjoy the moment
