Relena sighed and looked up from her book. Her daughter was sitting on the floor, staring up at her. "Hello there." She laughed, "Come on sweetheart, let's get you to bed." The little girl nodded and lifted her arms. Relena picked her up and went over to Heero. "Goodnight, Hallia." Heero kissed the child's forehead and smiled, "Goodnight Relena."
*We barely touch, we hardly say "Goodnight".*
Hallia frowned. Her young mind was worried. Relena saw her frown and she blinked. Hallia was only 5; there was no way she could know that her parents hadn't been as close as they used to be.
*And how could she have known? She's only five.*
Relena laid Hallia into her bed and tucked her in tightly. Heero appeared in the door and smiled. Relena turned around and exited her room. She was about to close the white door with pink and purple flowers, when Hallia's small voice stopped her.
*I tucked her in, warm and safe.
'Bout to close her door and walk away,*
"Please, Dod," Hallia lisped, "I know I avn't bean a bery dood dirl lately, but I pwomise I'wl be dood, if you make mama and daddy kiss and make up. Pwease, keep them in wub!"
*Then my heart stopped when I heard her pray: "I promise, honest, I'll be good.
"Just one wish, God, if you would:
"Bring back their happy faces;
"Just make them kiss and make up;
"Please keep Mom and Dad in love."*
Heero came up behind Relena as she started to cry. He listened to his little girl pray and felt tears of his own stream down his face. He realized that Hallia was right.
*Her little prayer sure opened up my eyes.
Our baby angel made me realize.*
As Hallia kept praying for her parents, Heero wrapped his arms around Relena. He remembered the fights they've been having lately, and suddenly felt awful. He kissed her passionately. "I love you." He whispered.
*Those whispered words she prayed for us;
They were filled with innocence and love.
How could we think of ever giving up? "I promise, honest, I'll be good.
"Just one wish, God, if you would:
"Bring back their happy faces;
"Just make them kiss and make up;
"Please keep Mom and Dad in love."*
The next morning, Hallia entered the kitchen to find her parents kissing and laughing as they made breakfast. She smiled and ran to them, wrapping her arms around each of their legs. Relena smiled and lifted her up. "How would you like a little brother or sister?" Heero asked, a mischievous glint to his eyes as he picked up the phone and called Duo, "Hey Duo, could you watch Hallia for a few weeks?"
*"Please keep Mom and Dad in love."*
