CHAPTER 2
Loreano sat combing her horse's mane. "Good ol' girl, WingedHeart, you're faster than ever." She whispered to her. There was a glitter of appreciation in the horse's deep blue eyes. The horse's eyes changed color with her emotion. Blue, like now, was when the horse felt happy. Loreano looked at the boy, Legolas, who sat with his horse at his side.
"How long will you stay?" She asked him.
He tilted his head. "Until my father's work is finished, I suppose."
"How much does he have?"
"Little, I think." Loreano frowned at this statement. There were no other children there to play with. It was quite boring there without Legolas. Loreano felt something soft against her hand. She looked down at it to see a small black and white dog, which looked like a puppy Border collie. Yet the dog was a Sheltie mix. Half Poodle and half Shetland sheepdog, to be exact. She smiled at it and picked it up. "How are you doing, Silanar?" Silanar was the little dog's name. It is elfish for sunshine. Legolas looked up from whittling a stick.
"Oh! Silanar, what have you been doing since I saw you last?" Legolas laughed. But then a shout came: "Legolas! Come! It is time to go!" The two frowned. "Well, it seems it is time for you to go," Loreano said.
"Yes," Legolas said standing. "Tenna' lye omentau' ((until we meet again))!" With a wave of his hand he was off.
"Oh, great," Loreano breathed to Silanar. "Now no-one is here." Putting WingedHeart back in her stable Loreano layed her head against a sack of oats and fell into a soft sleep clouded with dreams.

Loreano woke to a soft touch on her cheek. "Wha --?!" Loreano said as WingedHeart came into view. "How'd you get out of your stable?" She asked the horse, blinking and clearing her eyes of sleep. Once she could see every thing as well as she could she screamed.
"WingedHeart, you're. you're. Glowing?" WingedHeart tilted her head with what seemed to be a grin. =Child, do not be afraid.= A voice said; it filled the stable. It sounded like a female's. Loreano looked around. The voice laughed. It was such a beautiful laugh. It was undescribable. =Little One, it is me, your. "horse."=
"WingedHeart?" Loreano said in disbelief. = Yes, child. Follow me and I will drink from the stream of my kind and show you my true self.= The horse started to trot then stopped and looked back to see Loreano still sitting there, staring after her. =There is nothing to fear.= Loreano considered this. Shouldn't she go? After all, this was her horse, or. whatever WingedHeart was. Loreano slowly got up and followed.
That night, Loreano later swore, was the darkest she'd ever seen. Even her elven eyes were not of much use. But, if she stayed close to WingedHeart, her soft glow lit the way very well. WingedHeart led Loreano into the forest, deep into it. Until the came upon a stream, it was the clearest stream Loreano had ever seen, and will ever see. She felt it was, well, magical. And indeed it was. WingedHeart bent her head and drank.
As she drank her soft glow slowly turned into a blinding light, and Loreano had to shield her eyes. Then the light softened until it was almost where it was before but still much brighter. Loreano inspected the horse. There were no changes, but one. When her eyes reached WingedHeart's head, she gasped. What she saw there, perched on WingedHeart's head, was beautiful, white horn.
"WingedHeart you're a. you're a." Loreano stammered, half scared, half joyful. "Unicorn," WingedHeart finished, able to fully speak now. "Yes," Loreano whispered. "We shall go to the glade of the Forest Fairy and she will explain this all to you, for she can explain it best." With that WingedHeart leapt over the small stream and was on her way. Loreano hurried to do the same.
They walked for what seemed like hours until Loreano heard faint singing. A few minutes later they came upon a cave in a hillside that was glowing with a golden light. Entering the cave they saw a tiny little fairy, about Loreano's size, with long brown hair, clothed in green, she was singing. Seeing them it stopped singing and fluttered over to them.
"Oh!" The little fairy said with a smile. "WingedHeart! You have brought her." She turned to Loreano and gave a slight bow. "You are here for your story then!" The fairy said to her.
"My - Story?"
"Yes, you are the Earth Guardian."
"Earth - What?"
"This will all be explained to you in "The Story Of The Guardian". Sit. Have some tea." The fairy motioned to a table with two cups of tea sitting there. Loreano obeyed the fairy and waited for the fairy to begin the story.
