I did not see

Nor realize

The love

The passion

In your eyes



I saw only friend

And confidante

Not love

Not need

Not aching want



I dreamt of another

Day after day

True love?

True passion?

I could not say



And then too late

That dream did end

To wake

To see

I lost my friend



I now look back

On what it cost

Your smile

Your heart

A soulmate lost



And now years later

My dreams are new

True love

True passion

I dream of you
