Fainting Spell

A/N: Quick, short, response to a 5-minute challenge but not exactlly what the challenge had in mind. (Anyone who has fainted in public should understand Harper's feelings)
This really thoroughly sucks. He was on the floor of his machine shop with Trance and Tyr kneeling on either side of his sprawled body fretting like grandmothers. But there was nothing he could do about it. At least Beka wasn't around. The world was dark but he could still hear perfectly. "Is he dead?" Tyr asked. Harper could feel Trance's cool purple fingers on his neck.
"No, it looks like he just fainted." The darkness was stolen as Trance pulled open his eyelid. She must have been looking to see if his eyeball was rolled back in
his head or something. He really didn't know if it was. He could see them around him, but he couldn't move any muscle in his body. He really wanted to. He
wanted to tell Trance the eyelid thing was annoying and itchy and to just let him wake up when he was ready. He wouldn't be long. Tyr poked him in the face. What was wrong with him? What first aid program was teaching the Neitzchiens to poke fainting victims?
About this time he must have moved his eye or something because Trance released her iron grip on his eyelid. He blinked like it was better than caffeine.
"Do you know where you are Harper?"
"The floor" he tried to get up but Trance placed a purple hand on his chest and made it clear that was out of the question.
"Do you know what day it is?" He'd been unconscious, not stupid.
"Tuesday"
"Do you know who the president is?"
"The president of what?" Trance paused for a moment.
"I don't know; the database just told me to ask these questions when you woke up to make sure you were oriented."
"Do I seem oriented? Can I please get up?"
"I don't know maybe you should just lie here a while." He tried to sit up. Trance's tail held him flat.
"Please? I feel stupid laying here in the middle of the floor, limbs all akimbo."
"Do you know why you fainted?" He grinned sheepishly. He knew why. He'd been so absorbed in his project he had skipped lunch, dinner, and depending on what time it was right now perhaps a breakfast.
"I need some lunch?" He offered
"And you will eat lunch right now, won't you?"
"Yes"
"And you won't keep skipping meals will you?"
"No"
"And if you do Beka will somehow come to know about today and lecture you thoroughly."
"Yes"
"And---"
"Just let the boy up" commanded Tyr. Finally he did something. Trance helped Harper sit up and then get to his feet.
"Yeah, yeah, we've all learned an important lesson about life." He joked. Tyr and Trance glared. Harper scampered off to the mess hall.
