Recollections

A young man with dark, russet hair and chocolate eyes glazed with round spectacles emerged from the unusually empty stairs. His soft, gentle footsteps resonated along the empty second floor in the famous fastfood restaurant.

Carefully, he positioned the tray on the table, where a man about the same age as his, midnight black hair slightly disheveled and blue eyes focused outside sat quietly.

"Hisashi-kun…" he softly called, tapping the black-haired boy on the shoulder.

Deep, sapphire blue eyes came clashing with his brown ones, boring through them with much innocence and hyperactivity. He smiled a toothy grin as his companion took his seat in front of him.

The youth handed Hisashi a large hamburger, a two-piece order of McChicken, and a large cup of Coke Light.

The black-haired boy beamed.

"Arigato, Tetsuo! Itadekimasu!"

The so-called Tetsuo sighed.

It's Kiminobu, Hisashi… Kiminobu…

However, Hisashi didn't seem to have realized his mistake. He continued to gobble down the McChicken meal 'Tetsuo' had treated him. He stopped abruptly as he noticed the intent gaze the other boy has on him.

He blinked. "Tetsuo? Are you not going to eat?" He rummaged for the food in the plastic bag, and smiled victoriously as he pulled a regular hamburger out. "Here!"

Kiminobu absentmindedly took the hamburger offered. He nodded, and Hisashi resumed to his eating.

A fleeting sadness passed by the youth's eyes as he remembered the fateful day of that car crash, which caused the lives of his best friend's parents… and even his best friend's cherished memories.

Hisashi can't remember me anymore…

It was painful… the mere thought of all the memoirs of their bond that had been erased from the other's memory was so much hard to bear. And all that was left was Tetsuo's name.

Despite that excruciating fact, the brown-haired lad had volunteered to try to recover some pieces of the broken memory. Basketball, for instance.

But Hisashi-kun's a fast learner… no problem there…

"Tetsuo…"

Kiminobu snapped awake from his thoughts.

"H-Hai?"

"Daijoubu desu ka?"

Kiminobu felt incapable of answering the question. He wanted to tell the boy all his inner problems, all his feelings… just like the old times.

But he decided to lie. It is for the better of things, anyway.

"Daijoubu, Hisashi."

Hisashi nodded, then glanced at the uneaten hamburger on the table. He unfolded the wrapper with utmost care, cautious to not tear it. He grabbed a knife from the bag, and began cutting the hamburger in half.

Kiminobu blinked, puzzled.

"W-what are you doing?"

But Hisashi did not pay any attention to him.

After a few seconds, the black-haired man finally dropped the knife, and he rewrapped the food. He clasped the spectacled-boy's hand and placed the hamburger on his palm.

"Tetsuo… can you do me a favor?"

Kiminobu can only nod, as he was taken aback by the sudden gesture.

"If you see my beloved Min-kun around, please give it to him… he might be hungry, and I am quite worried."

Worried about his beloved Min-kun…? But… but Min-kun's me!

Happiness and hope was etched all over Kiminobu's once miserable face. He placed the hamburger inside the bag, smiling widely.

"Don't worry, Hisashi. Min-kun would surely receive this…"

Hisashi grinned. "Thanks."

And that he would be very happy to do so, too…
