Philosophy

*~*~*

Feel-good jazz and low-life blues.
Yep.
That's the story of your life.

Here one day and gone the next.
That's the whole thing in a nutshell.

Cool guys and sweet gals,
Tight rockers and groovy swing.

But you already knew that.

That was then and this is now,
And why was everything in between.

Life is short and death is sweet
In twisted worlds of brown and grey,
As are burnt ashtrays and half-smoked cigarettes,
Coupled with nameless jokes and bittersweet wine.

A lover here, a lost friend there.
Betrayal in a sea of doubt.
Waves, thunder, burning regret.
Murder a child, kiss their grave,
Or at least console the mother.
Fathers appear and are gone in a flash,
Prone to nausea and sickness of the heart.

Colorful phrases, meaningless words.
You hear it all and listen to none.
A high cliff on the horizon is fair game to a troubled mind.

Go on, jump.

I'll bet you can fly.
