Wide Open Spaces…
In the middle of an open field stands the fairest maiden peering into the body of water at the edge of her feet. A contemplative expression on her face signifies that she is deep in thought, too absorbed in her own world to notice the fair dark-haired being studying her from afar. The sun is reflecting off the lake, illuminating her pale features. Her eyes are a piercing blue, and he observes a sadness enclosed within them. Her waist-length hair, billowing in the gentle breeze, is a beautiful sun-kissed golden blonde. He cannot tear his eyes away from this fair creature. Suddenly, the fair maiden looks up, her eyes revealing concern. She seems to be searching for the person that belongs to the pair of strange eyes she felt upon her.
His eyes lock onto hers…and he immediately steps back, faltering.
"Legolas?" he asks, shocked.
"Aragorn?" Legolas asks. "What are you doing here?"
"Is that really you, Legolas? I thought you were a fair maiden."
Legolas laughs in merriment. A confused look comes upon Aragorn's face. When Legolas ceases his laughter, he speaks up.
"You're such a kidder, Aragorn."
Nervous laughter escapes Aragorn's mouth.
"Yeah…I was just kidding. I didn't really think you were a girl."
Suddenly, Legolas looks shocked.
"What's the matter, Legolas? Why do you look so shocked?"
"You really thought I was a fair maiden, didn't you?" he asks Aragorn, insulted.
"What? No! I said you were right. I was just kidding."
"No, you're not. You're not a very good liar, Aragorn, and I know you're lying now. I can't believe you really thought I was a girl!" he exclaims, his pride bruised.
"I'm sorry, Legolas. I didn't mean to think you were a girl. Is it my fault you have extremely girly features?"
"I do not have girly features!" Legolas protests.
"Yes, you really do, Legolas." A smile creeps up Aragorn's face. "And might I add that you are one gorgeous creature!"
"Well, thank you. I am rather beautiful, aren't I?…wait, no! What am I saying?! I didn't mean that, Aragorn. Really I didn't", Legolas stutters.
Aragorn laughs at him. "Of course you meant it. Don't worry, Legolas. I won't tell anyone else your secret", he assures Legolas.
This only causes Legolas to be more worried, which makes Aragorn laugh even harder. He slaps Legolas on the back heartily and then departs from the open field, the amused expression never leaving his face. His pride having been severely injured, Legolas finds himself left in the open field by himself, a mixture of shock and hurt taking over his features.

Disclaimer: I do not own Aragorn or Legolas. The characters belong to J.R.R. Tolkien, but their features come from the mind of Peter Jackson.
A/N: Thanks for reading, and if you review, thanks for reviewing! ^_^ This started out in my mind as a Mary-Sue bashing fic, but somehow it turned into lego-bashing. However, if I continue this story, then I hope to make it a Mary-Sue bashing fic like I intended. I hope you enjoyed it! ^_^
