Megumi's Lament to Tolkien
(as interpreted by Chibigenius and written in rhyme royal)
Tolkien, it must be confessed, had a wonderful idea
in that which is expressed as Lord of the Rings.
But though such bones were wonderful, I must make it clear
That there is a gripe on one quite obvious thing.
For there is nothing quite as effective in having sleep to bring
As such a tedious unadventuresome style
That plowing through such a breathtaking plot takes awhile.
Of my fandom, it came from the movies,
One out last year, the other out in recent days
The ones with four stars from the critics' reviewies
The ones in which my Legolas Orlando Bloom plays
With such skill and cuteness as to in a daze
Leave me. Even I am obliged to admit this movie would,
that even with another Legolas, be quite good
Though not quite as high up on my list as the elf,
I cannot in good conscience forget
The hobbit, the hero, young Frodo himself
So Tolkien, though to all your plots and characters I respect
I find your writing style to have trivialities and description in excess
Literary guilds of all seriousness, don't kill me
When I say, that far above the books, I much preferred the movies.
