The young elf maiden, Arwika, looked out to see the creature called a hobbit. He was recently brought to Rivendell for her uncle, Elrond, to heal. It seemed that he was stabbed by a Ring-wraith. It was close but her uncle saved him. She had never seen a hobbit before and was anxious to meet him. It was said that he carried a burden with him.
Arwika knew that her uncle would not allow her to bother the hobbit while he was getting better and she couldn't wait so, she and her friend Serlana talked to the cooks and arranged for them to take the hobbit's lunch to him. So the girls went to the kitchen around lunchtime and got the hobbit's tray and headed for his room.
"Oh I am so excited Serlana! I can not wait to lay my eyes on a hobbit" Arwika said to her friend as the snuck to the hobbits room.
"Shut up. I fear we will still be caught." Serlana whispered.
The girls knocked on the hobbits door lightly hoping he would awake.
"Come in," Said a voice that sounded a little familiar to both of them.
They pushed open the door only to find Elrond at the side of the hobbit's bed. He did not look pleased with the girls.
"You couldn't wait could you Arwika? That will be your downfall I fear. Now leave the food and go to your room. I am disappointed in both of you. No more nonsense. Do you understand?" Elrond asked the girls.
"Yes uncle" Arwika said sadly. She didn't even get to meet the hobbit.
"Yes Sir" Serlana said.
"Wait. Elrond I do not mean to be rude but may the girls stay? I would like to speak to some new people if you approve." Said the hobbit.
Elrond looked at both of the girls' eager faces and then at the hobbit. "If you wish it. But I do warn you Arwika talks a lot."
The girls let out a cheer and pulled chairs close to the hobbit as Elrond left the room.
"Do not stay long though. He needs his rest Arwika. Have fun."
"Thank you uncle" Arwika said.
Elrond just nodded and smiled as he walked out of the room and shut the door.
"Hello my name is Arwika and this is Serlana" Arwika told the Hobbit.
"Nice to meet you. My name is Frodo. Frodo Baggins.
