Title: Bailamos
Author: Daeleniel Shadowphyre
Fandom: Harry Potter
Genre: Alternate Universe, Romance, Drama
Rating: PG
Pairing: Harry Potter/Draco Malfoy
Summary: Songfic. Hogwarts' annual Leaver's Ball for Seventh Year students proves perfect for announcing things most secret to the world. Actions speak louder than words and a single dance can tell a love story.
Warnings: Spanish! Specifically European Spanish, or Castillian Spanish. All translations are provided at the end. There is also some fluff.
Disclaimer: Harry Potter and related characters and themes belong to J.K. Rowling. The song "Bailamos" is performed by Enrique Iglesias; the lyrics were taken from "AstraWeb Lyrics Archive" and manipulated to suit my purposes. This is a non-profit work of fiction.
Notes: This is what happens when you're driving home from dance class, trying to work out a scene for a Harry Potter fic, and simultaneously listening to a Spanish course on tape. Oh, and if you think ordinary choreography is difficult to do, try choreographing for an entirely written ballroom dance sequence without a partner! My first completed stab at writing a songfic and my first real success at writing FWA-- Fluff Without Angst.
Distribution: Ask and ye shall receive.
Greetings and salutations, o ye faithful readers!
Recent developements here at have placed a ban on songfics-- rather arbitrarily, to my way of thinking. The ban was placed, I presume, due to nameless people who may not have given credit to a music artist when using the song in his or her story, or perhaps someone who inserted the song with poor judgement in hopes that the song lyrics would carry the story or even make up for a lack of plot or writing talent... I honestly don't know, nor am I suggesting that these are the only kinds of songfics available; I should think Bailamos is a fair example of a well-written songfic.
The point is, songfics are banned and, thus, many truly good stories have been deleted from archives. For reasons I do not really comprehend, uBailamos/u has been left alone so far. Some people might claim good fortune and hope nothing happens, but I've never been one to enjoy sticking my head in the sand; it tends to leave one's rear end all too exposed.
I do not wish to remove the story from public viewing, as so many of you seem to enjoy it. However, I would also like to remain on for the time being. So, rather than bury my head in the sand and hope Bailamos continues to go unnoticed by Fido as being a songfic - despite clearly stating such in the summary for all to see - I've removed the fic itself to my alternate archive on LiveJournal, under the username "shadowphyx".
