iYou lay down with angels
To feel yourself again
You've got everything you need
Under your thick skin
I know where you're going
I know where you've been
When it comes to playin' games
You will always win/i
Whenever she was restless, Angel sat by the bed. It got to point, Cordy mentally tied her own body down, to keep from having him sit there, dissecting each thought.
He kept coming. Sitting there, perched at the end of her bed. And Doyle always smiled, then faded away slowly.
Cordy didn't scream anymore. She couldn't sleep without seeing him there.
"Hey, Princess" he cooed, the shirt now clean, the leather jacket neatly pressed. He even looked clean cut.
She turned on her side, taking a deep breath.
"Psst, you have to wake up for me to go" Doyle laughed, his accent thicker than Cordy could recall ever hearing it with her slowly fading memories of him.
She turned again, the sheet falling to the floor. Cordy opened an eye, there Doyle sat, on the edge of the bed, pulling the sheet back up around her hips.
"You called me, Princess. Not like I haven't missed you, but you know...that eternal rest thing.."
iBreak my heart again
For old times sake
C'mon, c'mon c'mon
Break my heart again
For old times sake o
You can't see your shadow
Reaching for the sky
Lay your head down on my bed
Please don't ask me why
Why am I leaving
Why don't I know
Something deep inside me
Is forcing me to go
You say you need me
But you can't tell me no
When I ask you to stop me baby
You just let me go/i
"I didn't call you" Cordy offered meakly. God, the room was cold. And he kept smiling, cheeks rosy. The room was freezing, she shivered under her blankets, but he looked so warm."You..you just come"
Doyle raised an eyebrow.
"I mean it! I wake up ..and there you are, just smiling at me. I can't tell you.." she waved her hand in his direction,"Cause it's you, and I..."
He smirked."You what?"
Cordy shook her head, taking a deep breath."Ang-"
"You're sleeping" she blinked, and he sat crouched in front of her now, grinning."Tell me you miss me" Doyle reached out, tucked hair behind her ear.
She closed her eyes.Doyle dragged his hand from her ear, across her cheek. It surprised her, he was warm. Felt solid, and cozy.
"You miss me, Princess. I miss you, too. That's why I come, to see you, make sure you're alright, because we all know, I have a special something" he snapped his fingers against the collar of his leather jacket,"That that brooding vampire never could have"
Cordy felt herself laughing."Doyle..."
He smirked,"Yeah?"
"I guess..." she said quietly,"Man..I miss you"
He reached out, and touched her cheek, his smiling face slowly fading into a mellow, almost orangish light."I love you, too , Cordelia"
When she woke up...Angel handed her a tissue.
"Everything alright?" he perched on the side of her bed.
Holding the sheets against her tightly, Cordy just nodded.
iAnd threw it away
Too bad the rest of me
Still wants you to stay
Want you to stay
You say you need me
But you can't tell me no
When I ask you to stop me baby
You just let me go
You just let me go/i
To feel yourself again
You've got everything you need
