They cast me on the streets and I
think I knew in my heart I would not die
But right after that I saw you
and felt it wasn't true
Then.
I thought friends might be odd and I
decided anyway that I had might as well try
but when I turned to you
I think I knew
Love.
We talked that day in the rain and I
looked back behind and felt suddenly shy
from the wondering look that you
had cast over to
Me.
We strode through the stars and I
smiled over at you when you started to sigh
Because after all this time you
finally thought it through
Then.
They say a soldier never forgets and I
know now that it's true deep in the night
but to forget... I wondered if you
might have been able to
Feel.
I finally had gotten it right and I
walked you through the midnight skies
talking about the war but you
just stared through
Me.
You called me the bloody boy and I
laughed because it wasn't my part to cry
when the statement came from you.
You had smiled true
Then.
They trained me for the war and I
took the knowledge safe to my heart before they died
a painful fiery death from you
After wondering who to
Kill.
They were there to welcome and I
looked at you to see if you knew they had lied;
you had always been naive but this time you
just looked through
Me.
I excelled through the training and I
was proud on the day they first let me fly.
It was like a dream and I wish you
could have seen it too
Then.
We first met each other years after and I
knew that you would never be an enemy of mine
because for some reason I trusted what you
really wanted to
Be.
They fired upon each other but I
held a small peace wherever you might fly
and I did notice that you
never fired to
Me.
And now I sit in this sad place and I
know that finally it has come time to die
but it will be so lonely without you
that I might fall through
Now.
You've forgotten but I forgive and I
think that I've forgotten some too but I try
to remember everything; that you
might have at one time knew
Love.
I think perhaps I'll stay forever and I
might have a drink to wait and pass into my prime
while I'm waiting eternally for you
to come back here to
Me.

A/N: Ugh! This is by far the hardest thing I've ever written, as I kept changing what I wanted to do with it. Just to point out, every first sentence ends with 'and I', every second sentence rhymes with 'I', every third sentence ends with 'you', every fourth rhymes, and the fifth word in each third set says something.
