Jane and Maura need to hire additional help to assist with their children, especially Kate as she is the most adventurous of the four children. Kate quickly makes friends with the new sitter and they experience new adventures together. For this story: MJ's is 8 (5/10/14); AJ and Lilly are almost 6, (12/4/16) and Kate is 4, (8/7/18). It all started with a trip to a bar in Washington, DC. before they were Rizzoli and Isles.

Jane is tasked with solving the murder of a high-profile CEO which draws the attention of local news reporters. While working the case Maura and Jane struggle with coming out fully to their family and co-workers, on-top of dealing with people from their pasts. Rizzles established post S2 some canon, mostly original content.

When Maura blinks her eyes awake, Jane is still there, still close.

"If I died in the line of duty, who'd do my autopsy?" Jane asked, and Maura put down her scalpel.

When they arrest Doctor Maura Isles for murder, Jane volunteers. Cavanaugh allows it; Maura has shown him kindness, and she wouldn't try to murder Jane. Korsak and Frost at her back, she cuffs Maura gently, leaving her hands in front of her instead of behind, leaving them looser than usual. She knows Maura bruises easily, doesn't want to cause her more pain. She rides in the back.

There was a reason Jane hadn't wanted Maura to join the baseball team, and it wasn't just her batting stats.

"I thought we could switch it up tonight," Maura said by way of explanation as they went down the stairs. Even with Maura in heels and Jane in flats, Jane still felt like she was taller, and that gave her confidence. She didn't feel so much of a charade, of a sham. "Oh, you wanna fight? It's on," Jane said, her jaw set, talking to Maura the way she talked to a perp. Jane tied her hair up and Frost whistled, then looked away as Jane glared at him. Jane was stunning like this; fluid in motion, her anger almost pheromoneal. Maura shivered when Jane landed that gaze on her again, then nodded and led the way. One shot.

Maura spent her life believing that she was given up for some flaw she was unable to see, and when she was younger she scrubbed away at her skin, trying to find what part of her was wrong, what didn't fit inside her until Constance noticed and took her to a dermatologist, who made her sleep in gloves until the scratches from her nails clawing at her skin healed.

Jane doesn't explicitly tell Giovanni that she and Maura are dating, because then he's going to think of the word lesbian, and as soon as he does, it's going to be gross. Not that being a lesbian is gross, or that Maura is gross, just that Giovanni thinking about them being lesbians together is gross. LLBFF episode

Set during S05E010 Jane had had enough for one day when Maura got home from work. Maura called a greeting into the house, clearly relieved to see Jane on the couch by the smile on her face. She hovered, clearly hesitant, before turning away and going to the kitchen to greet Angela, driven away by the impatience on Jane's face. Jane tried to feel bad about that, she really did, but

Maura yawned, taking her hair down. She took off her coat, revealing one of her nicer dresses - one Jane had never seen her wear. If Maura was seeing someone, would she wear that dress? It was in the 'awards' section of Maura's closet. Had she won another award and she was too humble to tell them? Jane's eyes narrowed. If it had been a date, Jane needed to have a background check.

Maura didn't like to ask for anything. She was always aware that her interpersonal relationships were built on borrowed time, that they could always disappear in a moment. In the morgue it was different, but outside her domain, even in the field, it was so much harder to ask. She never needed to ask Jane for anything; she always provided whatever Maura needed.

Jane and Maura both know what they want but are too afraid to tell each other. Will Valentine's Day be the catalyst they need to confess? *Might be a tad cheesy but hopefully still enjoyable.

Maura likes their height difference. Jane is tall, and Maura's face fits perfectly against her shoulder. She's a professional, so she wears heels to work, so she isn't distracted. But at home she kicks off her heels and looks up at Jane as she presses a kiss to Maura's temple, wrapping her arms around her. Maura feels small and safe in the confines of Jane's embrace.
