Two coloured streaks shot by in a grassy field, burning a trail behind them. The two streaks were coloured blue, and orange. Two familiar colours on the planet "Mobius". The streaks shot down a large hill, over a few loop-de-loops, into the air, and down another hill. A large wall became an obstacle in front of the two.
The blue streak suddenly stopped, forming a blue Hedgehog wearing large white gloves, white wooly socks, and red power sneakers, which had a white streak cross the middle. A two-tailed orange Fox, who wore white gloves, socks and read & white sneakers slowly came to a stop, using its tails to brake.
The Hedgehog pulled out a stop watch. "Bah! Only 40.8 seconds? We can do better than that..." The Fox rubbed its head, rather dizzy. "Sonic... ::Urp.:: Can we uh... relax for a bit? I don't feel so well..." The Hedgehog, Sonic glanced at his little buddy, and smirked. Sure, pal. Hang tight. I'll be right back."
He tossed the Fox, nicknamed 'Tails' the stopwatch. "You time me." Tails gave Sonic a thumbs up, and slumped against the wall. "I'll be back before you can say 'Hurginhagan'." Sonic winked, and was suddenly off like a shot. Tails blinked. "Hurga-what?"
Sonic sped thru long fields, around large Loop-de-loops, dug a large hole into the ground (Hilltop Zone, Ha, ha!), made a long underground tunnel, and shot out, up into the sky. He landed on a cliff's edge, and stared forward. ((What a beautiful day...)) He thought, gazing around. ((I wonder if Tails figured out how to say 'Hurginhagan' yet...))
He blinked, and strained his eyes. "What the..." Was that smoke he saw in the distance? Sonic jumped off the cliff, and landed safely on the ground. He charged up, and sped along the grasslands, towards where he say the smoke. Closer, and closer he came. The smoke seemed to get more and more thick, as if something was launching.
Suddenly there was a large explosion in the distance. It was so strong, Sonic was blown back about 30 yards. "Agghhh!!" Sonic screamed. Tails's ears perked up, hearing the explosion. He got up, and gasped. "Sonic!..." He twisted his two tails around, and started to fly.
Sonic slowly got up, groaning. The sky overhead seemed to be a tint of red. "What in the Sam Hill was that!?" He looked back, seeing his two tailed buddy frantically flying towards him in the distance. "Tails!" he called out to him. "We don't have much time! You're much faster on foot! Let's get a move on!!" Tails dropped to the ground, and started running. He gained more speed, and quickly gained up to Sonic.
"What's the big deal?" Tails asked, running behind, trying to keep up. Sonic panted softly. "I thought I saw smoke in the distance there, and the next thing I knew, there was an explosion. It sent me a few yards, but..." Tails blinked. "Hey, this might be coincidence, and all, but... Isn't "Mobotropolis City near there?" Sonic growled softly. "That's right! If we don't hurry, it could become 'Genocide City'!!"
