Waiting - By Lady Colubris
Disclaimer: I do not own nor claim to own any of the characters or places mentioned in this story. They are the property of Tolkien Enterprises. I'm just borrowing them for a little while. This is my very first attempt at LoTR fan fiction, and I know it's a bit short.. Anyway, I hope you enjoy. :)
*~*~*~*~*
I stand by the shore and patiently wait, gazing out across the Sea. My eyes scan the crystalline waters, searching, hoping, praying.
Longing.
I miss you my love. Neither words nor emotions can express the yearning I feel. How I have longed to see your face, to hear your gentle voice once more in my ears. My arms ache to embrace you and feel your warm, gentle touch. Many a night I have found myself dreaming of you, feeling you beside me in the darkness; but by morning's light you have vanished, naught but a memory, with only tears to take your place.
I remember with painful clarity the night we parted, the night I embraced the call of the Sea. Several dozen of us marched on that bitter winter's eve. As we began our journey I looked back and saw you standing motionless by the gate, reluctant acceptance playing upon your marble features. Our eyes met one last time, lingering for but a moment before at last we let each other go.
Many times have I wept since that night; many times have I questioned my decision to leave. Yet in my heart I know that the day will come when we are once again united.
Until that day, I stand by the shore and patiently wait for you, my love.
My Elrond.
I shall wait forever if I must.
~FINIS~
Author's Note: I've always wondered about Celebrian and her feelings for Elrond-especially when she left him behind to go to the Grey Havens. This was my take on what she might have felt. Reviews are appreciated, as is constructive criticism. Thank you for reading!
